Forge Closed Blow Off

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Jukidam, Apr 15, 2020.

  1. Hey

So I have a new closed circulation forge blow off (please see pictures doesn't know the exact name).

Had yesterday a little dangerous situation where I need to accelerate bit faster and found out my turbo is fluttering just as you blanked the turbo outlet and doesn't install a blow off (maybe not that hard but a little flutter is there).

Can't check that now more because the ecu isn't calibratet to the new turbo. And the engine is too fresh.

But as I know I have the stage 1 to stage 2 spring inside.

I'm asking myself is the cap for adjusting? The cap who holds the spring? I screw it till the end ^^

Or do I need to put some grease in?

    Someone here who had one?

    Its called a re-circulation valve
Put in the heaviest spring you have, think its the green one, the cap should be tightened down it's not the adjuster
Are you sure you have put the pipes on in the right place, when is it fluttering ??? is when you lift the accelerator.

  3. Thanks for the name and how it works

It seems right, and I don't think there is too much room or a pipe on overlenght that I fitted something wrong =p

But I will refit and control everything when I fit the new open filter

It flutters only on heavy pressure load and not long maybe a second, then it makes the zchhhhh sound

Sounds very nice but I guess the turbo doesn't like it

The open filter will make it sound a lot louder than before, fitting the Forge valve is not any different than the standard one, it just has a better seal and is adjustable, it does exactly the same thing.

Have you fitted a hybrid or different turbo ???

  5. I know =)

Yes I fitted a t15 turbo, from megane 3 rs

And my airbox have a big hole 3" (you know the cold air inlet which goes to the or under the battery? I cutted it out and fitted a ram air intake there before the eninge died. But because I want to install an open filter I let the hose away (the fitment stress me:tearsofjoy:)

That's also a reason why it almost sound like a open filter + there is a pipercross one inside and I can hear the valve working (or not)

  6. Mhm I don't know what to do, it still Flutter and that at boost.

I will try to open it tomorrow and try to put some grease in and look for a problem

But there is not much room.....

Doesn't know this thing would make problems :rage:

  7. Try fitting the original see if it changes anything.

  8. I will do it later

  9. What to you guys think about a open Blow Off?. Want to buy the open forge splitter.

I normally doesn't like the very loud sound from it but the blow off is controllable over clicks

Meaning harder or not harder and support 1,7 Bar. Sounds very nice to me

    Could it cause some problems?

And watch this, that's the same sound I have. That's not good or is it how it's supposed to be??

    That's normal Mate

Its all to do with the non standard intake, its going to be quieter than the external blow off valve you put on the other thread.

That's what my 225 sounded like, lighter throttle movements make it more prominent, once giving it what for you will hardly notice it :laughing:

  11. So as I understand for a closed recirculation valve the sound in the video is normal? :grimacing:

I guessed my turbo is fluttering

So I could let it how it is?

Maybe I should make also a video so you know what I mean

  12. Mine definitely doesn't sound like that lol.

That is a "normal" sound, with the air box in it gets muffled, so it's a lot quieter, the original one may also be slightly quieter but with a sports or cone filter it will be louder.

It's not really fluttering it's doing what it is supposed to do, when you lift off of the throttle it opens the valve to let the air out and it stops the turbo stalling, it's all there to reduce lag from the turbo when changing gear.

  14. Mine sounds more like an old fashioned dump valve rather than a flutter tbh

I think it all depends on the type of filter you have, the recirculating valve and if there is a cat or not, this did change it on mine slightly.

  16. So mine is the standard recirculating valve, decat and foam filter.

I'm not sure if the video has the recirc valve closed?

  17. Okay thank you both.

I will let it how it is.

As I known a forge splitter could be used open and also closed.

I don't think you can leave it closed, its only set for 5psi i think, depending on the spring used, so once your boost goes past that it will leak off, so you will only get around 5psi boost.
The valve uses boost pressure to hold the recirculating closed until the boost control valve opens or you lift off of the throttle.
