Slight misfire after intercooler swap..

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by andrewjeffs, Apr 12, 2020.

  1. I have suddenly acquired a slight misfire at 1.5k revs after swapping my stock intercooler for a GPI one.
Might be pure coincidence, but it was there immediately after the swap.
As you rev the engine it stutters at 1.5k..nothing before and nothing after.

No management lights or warning flashes.
Car appears to be idling fine, with the usual MPG.
Last week it seemed to go,but has returned again yesterday.

The coils on the car are the originals,so i suspect these..just seems a bit odd it started as soon as the new cooler went on.

  2. also...where have people bought coils from?...isnt the oem manufacturer Beru?

  3. Andrew, I´m almost sure they are Beru. I had any problems with Beru parts so, don´t know why Renault did choose this company for electrical parts. In my garage use to fit NGK or Bosch.

  4. the beru stuff must be of a good quality.it says made in germany on them, and have been in my car for 13 years!

  5. German! I thought are french:tonguewink:
Joke out, maybe it happen in some parts only. For example, when we fitted a Beru coils in a Seat Ibiza 1.4, or a Polo or any engine like that, they usually fail in a short time. With Bosch coils not. But who knows, can be coincidence!

    Hi Andrew
I bought set from my local parts supplier (Alan Skuse Plymouth) can't remember the make, but they were great had them in for a good while with no faults at all and they weren't expensive either.

I can get some for you if there open next week and post them on to you.

  7. think i have sorted it ian...number 1 plug was only finger tight.
this is the second time this has happened...not sure how the hell its working itself loose.
surely with the coil pack in place it cant move...but something has let the tension off it again??

    engine isnt missing now...its bizarre??

  8. theres a whole load of choice for coils..all the big names like delphi, bosch, ngk, valeo do them.
you can get the beru ones from autodoc for less than £100 for all 4.
but as you say..which are the best..who knows.

That's good, if you need any later i can sort them for you.

If you tighten them down, do a couple of hundred miles and check again, mine were just tight, m=not quite finger tight, but not far off.

  11. beru are based in germany..the parent company is borgwarner..

  12. thanks mate..its only number 1 plug that has worked loose..others all tight.I thought it was my mechanic who hadnt nipped them up last time...but its obviously not.
i assume it must be expansion of the head that is doing it with heat..
