Its possible but you really need to find a good MOT tester :laughing::laughing:

To be honest it will be cheaper to buy a universal one and get someone to fit it in either the decat pipe or the first section, this will be a lot lot cheaper, a 200cell cat is about £65

  5. JJZ

    JJZ

so i guess it’s not legal then and it would be up to the mot tester to pass it. [emoji2357]

that's why i say look at a universal one, it's not going to cost you £500 to get it removed and welded, even if you buy a really expensive Cat it's not going to cost you more than £200

i know ian i wouldn’t want to pay that sort of money what your saying is cheaper. got a quick question for you when i got the car back today from the garage i noticed when i put the window wipers on full speed they stop half way up and then when i turn them off they go back down again but they were working perfect before the garage had the car seems a bit odd and the drivers number plate light had blown all the other speed work fine.

it's Renault electric's, probably because they disconnected the battery to do the head, take it on a good run to make sure the battery is fully charged

i was starting to think could it be the stalk or the motor starting to go. but i suppose if it was the motor it wouldn’t work at all would it. just little nigly things lol

It may also be one of the plugs that goes into the fuse box, will depend how far they stripped stuff when doing the head, i doubt it's the motor if its working on normal speed, what happens if its on auto and you throw a bucket of water on the screen

auto does not working while driving in rain but when you stop auto works then.

So the sensor by the mirror is working.

Might be worth checking the scuttle drains and while its apart, the motor connections.

You might have to get it on ("Clip" Renault test) to see what it says.

when it snowed a couple of years ago the windscreen wipers froze the motor. couldn’t use them for a couple of days. but it’s something i will look in to with a clip.

hi guys iv got a questions iv just open my car this it’s key less entry and when i put the key in the slot the locke are going off

  18. Mine does this. I cure it temporarily by removing the battery from the key card. I wait 30 seconds or so and put it back in. It does end up doing it again sooner or later though. I’ve no idea what the actual problem is. Spurious signals from the key card maybe? Damp? Low battery? Dunno.
Pretty standard behaviour from a French car though, to be fair. Adds character.

iv only had this since it’s been for it’s mot last week very strange maybe you have to put it on the clip computer to reset the locks.

Either one of your sensor plugs has come loose, or a sensor has gone down.

I presume it's not pulling one way or the other and the steering wheel is straight.

hi ian i have replaced front passenger side wheel sensor but not drivers side front. is there sensors on the back wheels as well. also when it went for an mot last month they said the rear discs need replacing for next mot could it be a broken abs ring thanks jason.

yes there is one one each rear wheel, it could be that its got metal filings/rust stuck to the rings, the rings are part of the wheel bearing seals and there magnetic.

If you can get it plugged in, it will tell you what corner the problem is

  24. JJZ

    JJZ

ok thanks ian where the best place to get a set of rear discs from might as well replace them while i’m at it.

Just try your local car parts supplier or the usual ebay sellers, rears aren't as important as the fronts, i think mine are Textar's

You have to remember one thing, Renault don't make them they buy this stuff in.

I worked for a parts factor many hundreds of years ago, companies make the parts for the car manufacturers, after a certain quantity then there are allowed to sell onto the public, but there not allowed to say that there the original supplier.

the part no i have on my lock is from 2007 8200076240 so renault phoned me back and said that part no is no longer in use there is a new part no 8200947699 and it will be £67 pound plus vat laughing laughing so got one on e bay £12 quid [emoji1303]

hi guys can you give me some advice to my problem i had today i drove the car for half an hour engine management light came on so drove to reno tech near me and they plugged it in to the diagnostics they said it was the bottom oxygen sensor on the cat that could be faulty so they cleared the fault but after getting the head gasket done i can smell burning and there is trickles of excess oil coming from the rocker cover where they had tightened it down they said that this will be the oil burning on the engine that’s what i can smell could this excess oil have caused the engine to get hot and confusing the oxygen sensor thus causing the engine management light to come on no loss of power and no loss of coolant and i do have a miltek exhaust right up the the cat thanks jason.

    Hi Jason
Has the car been mapped ???
From what i can gather, if its been mapped the after cat sensor is switched off, might be wrong but sure thats what i was told.
Oil on the outside of the engine will not effect the sensor, you would have to suck so much smoke from the oil into the air filter to make a fault like this happen

  35. JJZ

    JJZ

yes ian car has been mapped to 235 bhp i don’t think it’s a stage 1 tho i have print out that makes sense then only has a itg filter and miltek exhaust right up to cat the garage did ask me if it had been de cated and it hasn’t that must be the problem then thanks [emoji4] i was panicking thew should i replace sensor then

that might explain why the service light has been turned of ian because it will throw up engine management light i think it’s been mapped just to calibrate the miltek exhaust and itg filter [emoji848]

That's not mapped :laughing:, with a totally standard car you can get around 250, the setting it up with the air intake and exhaust wouldn't really have an effect, the ecu would sort that out.

Yes it would be worth changing the sensor, think they are both the same, pre and after, i would put the new one in before the cat and the one you take out put in the after cat position

am thinking of getting it mapped again ian to 270 if possible iv got an airtec intercooler to go on as well maybe go to efi in runcorn only an hour from me i’ll need some 630cc injectors as well i wonder if there is a group buy going.
