Hey guys. The heated seats on my megane 265 show the 'heated seats activated' message all the time, however neither my passenger or driver seat actually heats up regardless of switch position. After a year of not having them, an independent Renault garage had a look while doing my M.O.T. When replacing the fuse they say it blew straight away, the wiring is all as it should be under the seats and when hooking it up to the machine no error code was found. They even swapped the relay apparently. Anyone had similar experience or any idea what the issue could me? The message is locked on but no heat! Wouldn't mind having a warm bum this winter
Don't suppose they said the size and location of the fuse they swapped did they? I've got no heat in mine either
Apparent in the glove box, when you pop the fuse cover off, the fuse sits underneath the fuse box where the majority of fuses are( so this fuse isn't in the actual fuse box, it's found just below)
That's interesting as there isn't any fuses under the fuse box in the glove box!? Just the two main power input cable blocks and the glove box would have to come out to get to those?
Yeah before I had the garage look at the seats I believed the fuse was under the bonnet (from what I'd read else where) but apparently not. I have no idea what could be making the fuse trip
I’m not alone! I’m soon to be putting my car in for visit 7 in relation to this issue, only at first my heater seat was always on full and I couldn’t turn it off. We have now isolated that so the heated seats don’t work for now even tho it still says they are on, on the dash. And I’d say I get about 5 mins out of the fuse that controls the seat movement before it blows.....
I wondered whether a fuse may linger under the seats! Do you know if one fuse does both seats or a fuse per seat?? I'd assume it's near the pink relay on the passenger side. Do you think your problem could be thermostat or even relay related if it's stuck open/closed? (Although I'm sure they would have gone through that process already)
Something relay related was wrong with mine but it’s still not sorted! They found something with that and a wire that had worm which was replaced. Not sure if the fuse under drivers seat is for passabler side, I don’t think so as that one seems spot on. My car is going to a specific auto electric specialists And they, I think are at the point of saying I may just have to replace the whole control unit etc.... it’s one of those really annoying gremlin type problems, I wonder if your electric seat will stop working soon too as mine started this issue just like yours and then grew! You have to undo the drivers seat to tip right back to get to it
My passenger side seat has caused the fuse to go today, same as above the dash light is continuously lit and neither heated seat works. @Neil Mackay Did you manage to find the fuse?
Nope never did find the fuse I’m afraid but mine had the seats retro fitted thus the heat not working! Even stagex motorsport couldn’t code the seats so the heat worked!
Is that the fuse for the seats? I'll need to check mine. Did you replace the fuse and did it fix it? I'll be nipping to Halfords this morning if so
Mines looks totally different. Just pulled out a 5A fuse and now I have a ABS and spanner error on start up lol. Think I'm just going to have to try another garage before I do anymore damage.
You’ve pulled out the abs fuse, go for a drive around and it will clear it. The fuse in question, there’s no way you’ll pill it from there, it’s a glove box out job, not hard only 6 screws. It’s the yellow fuse top right of your pic I think, you can just see the edge of it behind the plastic, or the white one below it.
Disconnected the battery and fixed it. Both of those fuses are 25 and 20 though yours was a 5 lol. I'll remove the box and have a look though thanks alot, glad you got to the bottom of yours
It was a 5 but shouldn’t have been, I’ve replaced it with a 20. I assume mine blew as both seats being on was to much for the 5a fuse
Can you remember roughly where the screws were? I see one at the top inside the glove box. I'm assuming the left side panel pops out with force and there's maybe a couple in there? Struggling to see any others and I don't want to force/break it lol
Pop the left hand panel off and there’s two, pop off the trim above the door itself, 3 in there and the one you’ve seen in the box itself. Then just pull
Thanks very much Gavin. Got it all off, changed the fuse (put a bigger one in too) and it blew each time. Atleast it's been narrowed down slightly now need to figure out why it's blew.
