Upgrading R26 brakes

  1. As I've posted before..... Not entirely happy with my brakes, they could definitely be better, so I've decided on two options:
    Mk3 set up.. callipers, discs and some decent pads, or.....
    Reyland 343mm two piece discs, standard R26 callipers performance pads.
    I've not a clue about which would be better and would seriously appreciate everybody's input!

    the mk3 has a larger pad surface so will be better than the mk2 brembo and larger discs

    reyland your still using the mk2 caliper so no difference in pad area but bigger discs

    I did the mk3 upgrade years ago, well worth the effort and the pads are also cheaper.
     
  4. mk3 proven to work,even with hard track abuse.
    My mk2 brakes are just up to the job with aggressive pads,and a full brake cooling set-up.
    Will be going mk3 when i get round to it.
     
  5. Thanks for all the advice gents. Does anyone know if there's any companies/people that sell the complete kit, or of anyone that can supply the caliper extension pieces? Cheers

  6. Don't know if a company does it all. But it's John Burley for the brake adopters and George at Road Track Race Parts for everything else

    i got a local engineering guy to knock mine up, you also need some longer bolts, i got mine off Ebay, but had to cut about 3mm off the end as they were slightly to long, he also re drilled the disc's for me from 114.3 to 108.

    cheers @john45bryan . I can help with the discs ,pads, pins, fluid etc for the mk3 set up if want to go that route, I have some red mk3 RS Brembo 4pot calipers in stock aswel @Si271

  12. I've got Johns 250 set up on mine, its makes a big difference and he's a top chap to deal with.

    Mk3 kit all day, ive just done it.

    Can be done on a budget, i got a mate to die grind the bolt holes out for a few beers. ive a pair of spigots spare, youd just need longer bolts and some spacers making.

  18. You don’t need spigot rings if you’re running studs though so bear that in mind.

  20. What kind of price are the brackets and bolts for this conversion?
     
  21. I think I paid 50 for the spacers, 25 for the four bolts and 18£ per disc for re drilling the pcd

    I paid about 20 quid for a die griding discs, spacers can be made cheap from an engineering firm. Bolts can be had for around £20. Just get someone to measure there spacers and bolts and your onto a cheap upgrade.

    In all it cost me around £200 to upgrade as I sold the ds2500 pads and my old brembos. Got a lot of the costs back.
