Probably world's dumbest question: Got a 2007 Megane 225 (full fat) - with the glass panoramic roof. It has an immobiliser... fine. But does it have an alarm? I've read a site (https://thatchamfitters.co.uk/car/cars-with-factory-fitted-thatcham-security/renault.htm) suggesting that it has a Thatchem Cat 2 immobiliser. But it also suggests ("Megane II all other models - Sep 02 onwards") that it has a Thatchem Cat 1 alarm system. In all the years of ownership (since 2008/9?) have I ever heard the alarm arm, disarm, go off... When I lock the car I always double press the fob key, which prompts the indicator bulbs to flash and then rapidly flash approximately 3 times. Is this the deadlocking AND alarm setting? Or is the site misinforming and the car doesn't have an alarm and is just deadlocking?
if you look on the Cpillar in the rear abaove the parcel shelf it should have 2 Ultrasonic sensors for the alarm
I'll take a look when I get back to the car after work... Slightly annoying a site would make a statement that everything after Sep 02 (Megane II) has them and they turn out not to...
they do have themn for sure, one way to find out is to lock your car with the window open and when locked pass your arm throught the window and see if is sounds the alarm. but do not double click on the remote or it will close the windows automatically an other way is to lock the car window closed and open the car with the door in the handle using the key that is in your remote near the battery, that will defo sound the alarm and it work for MK2 ph 1 and ph 2, i know i tried it on both cars i have (1.9dci 120 2003, 2.0dci GT 2006)
