Hi guys, I'm on the hunt for a one of those red tow hooks for my mk3 Megane. I cannot for the life of me find one that has a rod long enough to fit the mk3. I'm considering getting one made as I cannot find one, but I don't know the exact dimensions needed to get one made. The closest I've found is one for the suburu brz as it has a thread of 15.8mm which I think is the same as the meganes but it is too short. Was thinking of trying to extend that somehow aswell? Also, I'm located in Australia. Any help will be great! Thanks in advance ✌
Nothing as yet I'm just about to drill rear bumper to allow access, and so I can see if standard length fits. Then I'll see cost of local fabrication/machining vs ZPO - the killer for me is shipping cost to Australia
Thanks for the feedback and photos. For the rear did you screw into the factory connection on the chassis frame thru the aluminium crash bar? Or did your bracket bolt onto the crash bar? If you did use the factory threaded connection are you able to 1. provide the centre location for drilling? I found this image (see below) but the when I located the centre position (with bumper on) using drop lines etc I found these to be a little out i.e. 111mm (instead of 108) 328mm (instead of 314) 136mm was close, but difficult to check as locating reference point is pretty subjective; using reference point corner of reflector/light I have 182mm) 2. is the factor tow hook long enough to reach the treaded connection? Any help greatly appreciated Regards
