13th May Brands Hatch GP

Discussion in 'Track Days & Track Driving' started by Geoff230F1, May 10, 2019.

  1. This will be my first track day in a car and a long time goal of mine. I think I am prepared and the car is too.
Will let you know how I get on. Last night I could hardly sleep with excitement. Not sure I will sleep at all Sunday night.

  2. Who’s this track day with? Would love to do Brands Hatch GP, have done the Indy Circuit (not sure the GP circuit is ideal for first track day though, ha). Hope you enjoy and would be interested to hear how you get on. At least it looks as though the weather will be ok on the day at the moment.

  3. It's with Gold track. Yeah I'm not sure the GP track is ideal for my first but hey if your going to do it why not do it in style lol. I think there is still places available.

  4. Nice. Is your car standard or have any mods, what prep have you done on the car?

  5. Enjoy. My first was Spa Francorchamps and all good. Just use your mirrors for the faster, more experienced guys and enjoy it.

  6. Thanks, would love to try Spa. Yes mirrors will be used a lot I don't want to hold anyone up.
The car is virtually standard. Short shift and uprated pads and gutted interior for the day being the only mods. I've just had a full service, all belts etc and clutch and flywheel so it will be reliable and dependable

Might be a few of us going out there next year, will keep you informed :laughing::laughing:

  8. Update...
Goldtrack is a great organiser. Will book with them again and I highly recommend going on their days
Bought it home in one piece and learnt a lot today having 2 sessions with an instructor and just experiencing what it's all about.
    Damage report.
    Me.......absolutely wrecked
Car.......needs mapping properly, overboost causing it to go into limp mode when I was on it. Which at the start of the day was with the instructor in the car but by late afternoon it was doing it with just me...it was like a gauge of talent lol
Brake fluid needs doing and hoses I already have need going on
Rear exhast box sounds like it's fallen apart internally
So not too bad. To say I'm hooked is an understatement
Thanks Ian for your advice and call today

  9. Good to hear you had a good day and the weather was great which is always a bonus.

  10. Great day for a trackday. Now is when you spend money on fixing the weaknesses.

    Hi Geoff
Good to hear you had a great day, i have never done a track day with Gold track will see what they have and give them a try.

Having an instructor is one of the best things to spend you money on in my opinion, most of them seem to know what they are doing :laughing::laughing:

It is quite surprising how tiring it can be just driving around a track, there is so much to concentrate on its almost an over load for the brain.

So turning off the traction control didn't sort the limp mode then :laughing::laughing: didn't think it would.

No problem with the call sorry i didn't answer when you rang, now get the Ring booked :laughing::laughing::laughing:

  12. I think I might book Thruxton with them for next month. Think it's Thruxton, will have to check. But rectifying the problems might take a month fitting things around work. Insurance due in a couple of days. Oh man!!!!!!

Thruxton is a great track, just keep an eye on the passenger front tyre, might be worth swapping front and rear in the lunch break.

My insurance is due on the 22nd, got the price down from £390 to £251 like for like, i'm happy with that

  14. Renewal is 5 something with my present company but going to shop around. This adiction is expensive. Worth it though

Greenlight renewal £390, LV quoted £251 with all mods declared.

  16. Damn that's a good price

  17. I've turned an exciting thread into one about insurance.
If you're reading this and are thinking of doing a track and havnt.. Book one. Don't worry about the cost or worry it could horribly go wrong. Lol
