Hi all, Im hoping that someone can help. I started my car today and noticed a rather loud ticking noise from the engine. I cant figure out exactly where its coming from, but with the bonnet down a lot of the noise comes from the front drivers wheel arch. With the bonnet lifted it seems to be coming from the drivers side of the engine. The car has never made this noise before. The ticking noise speed changes with the revs. Im not sure if it is linked, but I was turning on and fiddling with the aircon when it seemed to start. Any help would be great. Thanks
Dephaser? Had the belts done? Just seen the air con comment, could be a faulty air con compressor. Not heard of them making noise but they are a common to fail and air con not work.
that pipe is the fuel line, not sure that would cause a ticking unless the fuel pressure reg on the rail is causing it?
I had all the belts and bits done about 6 months ago. When I fired up the car it immediately made an odd squeaking dragging sort of noise from the same sort of area, then quickly went and just the ticking noise. But its now not as noisy!
Is it not the carbon filter thing (cant remember proper name) thats on drivers side and makes a ticking noise. Changed mine few months ago and not ticked once
Potential Megane driver here, just signed up on the forums to try and search this exact problem I can hear in a test drive car with only 400km on it. You describe it exactly. Air con was on when I got in but I turned off and ticking noise is still there. Going to tell the dealership when I take it back in the morning. Very strange to hear it on a new vehicle, sounded like a timing belt noise I'd heard on my old R56 Mini, but could be air con.
