Anyone know diameter of pipe for backbox on dci? Will get round to measuring it just wondering if anyone knows? If anyones got any pics of backbox chops on either dci or petrol can u post see what I'll need pipewise? Cheers
It'll most likely be 2,75" mate. All you'll need is to go to an exhaust place. They'll cut the backbox out and weld a pipe in where it was. FYI the 'standard' backbox chop uses the standard tailpipe section... It should cost you about £60-80 depending on where you go
I dont want to pay lol my mate who lives next doors a welder he said if I get a pipe hell do it so just wanted see what size pipe I need and if what angle bend roughly hes got a pipe bender at work anyway just traying to picture it ordering some new tips to be welded on but cant decide what shape lol Cheers tho Ed
In complete honesty mate, I'd get it made up on the car, its not as easy as buying a pipe. Personally for the money it's worth taking it to someone who's done loads before and getting them to do it. Its a ridiculously cheap mod as it is!
would love to hear it when done , ive done a few searches on you tube but no one as posted a vid and I aint got the balls to just do it
Yeah the backbox isn't a separate the part, it's one continuous pipe into it. So they cut the box out and replace it with a suitably shaped pipe!
for Dci , any links mate ??? had my old 225 petrol done and i'm unsure how a diesel would sound cheers shippo
Ed me and my mate made a fully custom 2.75" twin exit setup for my 306 was that good mate ran in back of exhaust and only popped a rubber off. Im no newbie just wanted to see what angles and stuff people are using as was thinking making our own split section as oppsosed to welding existing tip setup on. Damn right gav going to get it done as soon as I can get mates unit and pipework I think it will sound good as with dpf delete it spunds raspy now and may even make a decat pipe if not loud enough lol
Fair enough, didn't realise he made exhausts, probably the best person to be speaking to then Making a decat will take some doing though!!
Ive weighed up cost of materials and going to price up at a local exhaust specialist (backstreet type) just to see if its worth me doing or get them to and then weld my own tips as want round 3" rolled out kind lol
This maybe of interest from the other forum... http://www.meganesport.net/communit...op-on-my-rs-175-diesel&highlight=dci+back+box
Yeah I saw that kev, there was never that reply as to difference in throttle response or noise on that forum which isnt a suprise really lol But however im not doing it for great noise as ive had dervs with straight through pipes its more for less back pressure and the noise on full chat is what I want they only did a video sat still as far as I can see on there. With that in mind these limit to 3k sat still so boost will be minimum il get a proper video when I get it done and report back Also if people want il enquire about a premade section and see if he can put a price for prefabbed bolt on kit for anyone else that wants one doing
Hi bud what size tips have you got? Are they round? Im not sure of what size to go for either 2.5", 3",3.5" as both holes are 6x4" thinking of rolled out circle tips
Will try get some difficult to get it from inside car will get a friend to do a driveby, will also take one standing as does sound better when on the 3k launch
Going to try get some more videos as my phone doesnt pick its true sound up but met a few lads in stockport last nite and they agreed it sounds epic. It really does sound like a jet plane on boost but nice and quiet otherwise
