Thought i would start a diary on here, as i like to have a place to log everything with each car. My Mrs has just bought a car which a few of you may know.... Myself and Carly have been keeping an eye out for a car/toy for her, we have a few toys but she fancied something that could get used and enjoyed quite regularly which is not 'too good' to use often. Seen a few bits that were interesting but nothing that made Carly say, yes i would like that..... A while back we had a R26R which we both really liked, but with only 2 seats it really was not practical. So whatever it was, Carly was specific that it needed 5 seats with 5x proper seat belts, and a decent size boot. It will not be often that we need all 5 seats as we have a family car, but if ever we did all want/need to go somewhere in it, Carly wanted it to be 'practical'. One of the cars we did discuss was a Megane R26, and then i spotted this car go live on a Facebook page. Being Liquid Yellow i knew Carly would like it, and the fact it has had serious money put into making it means Carly will not get bored of the power. I traveled to view the car a couple of days later, checked it over, had a drive, and reported back to Carly. A deal was agreed, deposit paid and we collected it at the weekend. 46k miles Fully forged Catcams Supertech valves & springs RSTuning turbo kit with GTX3071 850cc injectors External pump & swirl pot in spare wheel well 3" decat, KTec cat back & backbox AST 5100 Coilovers RS250 front brake conversion with PF pads Gripper plated diff TTV twin plate clutch 595R Tyres Corner weighted & Geo set up for track Plus much more which i have forgotten already no doubt. Various carbon bits, and other parts. All work has been done by RS Tuning. Has 4 maps, 330, 420, 450, 487. We took it for a blast the other day before we started cleaning it up ready to come back out for spring........ its seriously good to drive. Whilst the car has literally had no expense spared on maintaining it and putting the best parts on it, it needs a good old clean inside and out, so we have made a start. Sunday it got a snow foam, clean, iron-x, clean, de-tar (had loads of tar on it), clean and a good clean inside as it was really filthy inside. But it has come up well. Looking for a few bits & bobs to tidy it some more, (see wanted ad) along with a few more carbon bits. Need to find a nice 60mm gauge pod for the Turbosmart eboost2 which is proving tricky, i may end up making one as i did for our Evo. Also need to get the front bumper sitting better and sort getting the cambelt/water pump done. Here are a few pictures, but its all i have for now....
Thanks very much mate, the Evo is a labour of love. Diary here for anybody interested, first few pages a bit boring but a few pages in we do the underside. https://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=540426 Looking forward to getting stuck in to the Megane, but must remember not to get carried away!!
Thanks very much, a lot that we have done which i have not put in to the owners diary but most of it is on the thread. Had quite a few Evo’s but something about this one Think it will take a back seat for a bit whilst doing bits to the Meg though
Just had a nosey through your car inventory and wow some absolute stunners. But for me the 1st thing id do with the meg is lose the bonnet. I no its a lot lighter than oem but imo it really doesnt suit. And lets be honest if its just for weight saving purposes, with 487bhp on tap i dont think a few kgs will make a difference lol
Thanks very much mate... Appreciate the input ref the bonnet, but the Mrs loves the bonnet, as do i to be honest. Getting carbon mirrors & b pillars to go with it, plus it has carbon rear wiper & surround. Carbon a pillers inside, plus cluster cover & inner door handles so it has a little carbon theme
First parts now starting to arrive, full cambelt kit, aux belt kit, water pump, bottom pulley bolt and a couple of seals. Wish this crap weather would hurry up and bugger off so we can get cracking with it properly!
Why would you want to replace a carbon bonnet?! Doesn't suit?! Christ... I'd cut my spuds off for a carbon bonnet at the moment! It suited the R26r, so why not an R26?!?! [emoji848] Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk
Small update, had some LED interior bulbs turn up so fitted them lastnight. Seems the number plate lights don't work, so that's a job for the weekend. A few pics of the various carbon bits. We have never been much of a lover of Carbon on any of our cars, but just feel it works on this one, looking to get carbon front & rear badges, door badges, mirror covers and b pillars. Apologies for the dark pictures. Treated the leather whilst at it. I need to get the front bumper and offside headlight lined up better, any advice for common issues here would be much appreciated, will have a proper look when its off to do the belts. Engine bay needs a bit of tidying up, plus a cover missing. Also removed the Megane and Renault Sport badges. Gel plates on the way.
someone forgot to take there pills this morning lol. I just feel it doesn't suit the front end of the r26. But like richard has said theres more carbon on the way. So maybes with a little more carbon it may suit. Oh and if u fancy a carbon bonnet I'll ask my mate if his still got his?
Hello mate, pills taken! [emoji16] If you know someone with a bonnet I could well be interested! Very interested! Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk
bumper is always hard to line up. They dont really fit to well even new! I have just put a brand new one on my R26,and even that had to be played with to line up correct.
buying the correct bumper fitting kit from Renault helps,as clips etc get broken. also make sure the undertray is intact,as its part of the bumper strength, and is often cut about when a aftermarket splitter is fitted.
AST Coilovers mate, no spacers. Thanks, i have not actually, i will have to get some. Thanks - yes carbon bonnets look great on certain cars imo I got to the bottom of it, offisde bracket snapped off it seems but got it pretty good for now.
Got to the bottom of the lack of rear number plate lights.... Also offside out CV boot clip broke, so new CV boot now fitted. Our youngest loves it bless her.... A couple of pictures after i did the Renault emblem badges in black, and fitted the gel plates. Carly putting some wax on it.... Popped to Snetterton with a friend of ours in her 225 Also arranged my friend to take Carly round track in his evo - absolute weapon this thing is. For Carly's birthday, i had a spare wheel retrimmed and a gearknob done to match, plus some new genuine mats. So popped to the workshop, fitted the parts, and then set about cambelt, water pump etc. Now it is on the road, i soted a set of AD08R tyres, as an upgrade of the Federal RSR tyres which were on the car. The track wheels have R888R's which Carly suggested using but then decided to keep them for track only. That pretty much brings us up to date.
Well it seems the spending never ends with a Renault New O/S driveshaft on order, seems the outer CV is getting a little noisy. Millers gearbox oil on order, along with Millers engine oil and oil filter. N/S front shock coming off as one of the adjustment screws/bolts in the adjustable top mount is broken, so rectify that and set the geo up a little more road friendly then hopefully no spending for a little while lol. We have been using it a little bit, getting used to it now. It really is very impressive, shocks everybody that has either been in it or tried to take on the 'chavvy yellow Renault'
Does anybody know if these still allow full movement/sliding of the passenger seat to allow passengers to gain access to the back seat? I would assume it still slides forwards as normal? http://www.tegiwaeuro.com/kap-indus...et-renault-megane-2-without-extinguisher.html
A few bits to update, will post some pictures asap. Went in yesterday and had new O/S driveshaft fitted, along with Millers gearbox oil, both front coilovers off as adjuster screw on the adjustable top mount were being a pain, all free'd up and cleaned up. Geo was set up, and whilst on the ramp a new oil filter and millers oil. Drives better now with the driveshaft having been done and geo altered. Today i have given it a good clean inside and out again. removed scuttle panel unblocked drain plugs in bulkhead removed bulkhead sound deadening given front wiper arms a coat of satin black fitted new clips on scuttle panel and new bosch wiper blades (front & rear) replaced the random blue forge t piece hose for a black one ordered a fire extinguisher holder Now popping to the post office to collect our door badges. Next in line is to sort the passenger window, and then speakers/headunit.
A few pictures after a clean, these were before putting the wiper arms back on, and scuttle panel back on properly. Also before fitting the door badges we had made, which arrived yesterday and went on lastnight. The engine bay is still a long way from how we want it to be, but that will come with time as spring/summer approaches we want to be using it. Cabin/Pollen filter on order, and i need to get a window motor for the passenger door. Also i need to make a vent gauge pod to house the boost controller, as its currently just sitting at the front of the centre console. Unless somebody can suggest a 62mm pod which does not require screwing in to the dash board for a Meg2?
I also hate them, i cant see why it would be an issue and have seen a couple of others running without them. Either way ours needing going as with the drain plugs being blocked that had get wet through a few times so had starting getting very saggy. If we have any issues i will let you know but sure it will be fine.
I was wondering as our old R26R had one lol.... Damn i miss that car! http://www.appreciating-classics.com/car/2205/
I was tossing up between the r26 and the r26r when I bought mine.... As much as I loved the idea of the r... I needed the seats and realistically wouldn't be going on track to warrant it.... Bloody common sense... Should have just gone with my man maths! [emoji23] Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk
Exactly why we sold ours, with only 2 seats we just could not use it often at all. And now back with the R26 as we were looking at R26R's again, but needed rear seats. Piece of cake mate, i had the scuttle panel cover off anyway, then used a clip puller to pop the clips out, and a little 10mm iirc behind the turbo and simply pull it out.
Wow not updated this in a while.... Not a huge amount to report, mainly a very annoying aircon leak which we need to find as it gets far too hot in the car without it! Had the mirror covers and exterior door handles done gloss black, whilst i had the handles off i managed to sort out the passenger side as it was sticking open. Fitted fire extinguisher on passenger seat rail. Fitted a a pair of Audison Voce 6.5" speakers in the back, running them off a Audison SR2 amp. Speakers - https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/332070030775 Amp - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005C8LRBQ/?tag=rsmeg-21 Also fitted a set of Hertz ML280.3 tweeters - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00UCDF208/?tag=rsmeg-21 Just the front door speakers to do, and headunit but already it is a huge improvement! Will be getting a few more interior trim bits painted gloss black, and hopefully get the air con sorted asap. Other than that, we have mainly been out upsetting much more expensive stuff Need to get the track wheels painted, replace one of the R888R's and get it on track once we are done with all these little bits!
A few pictures and small update. Aircon leak seems to be sorted now, replaced the condensor - it looked to be leaking where the lower pipe enters, got a new rad and seal kit just to be sure and we have aircon Managed to sort the passenger window, that now operates as it should do. A few pics here and a little clip on this video at a local meet. Megane is at 2mins.
Also made a vent gauge pod for the Turbosmart boost controller as well, so that is nicely mounted in the drivers side vent, sits perfectly and much better than it flapping around in the centre console.
