R26 Rear strut brace needed?

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by eddie ninja, Feb 19, 2019.

  1. Have deleted the rear-seats (again) and every shake and shudder makes me wonder if I need one.
It’s mainly a road car with half a dozen track days a year.
It’s putting out 296 bhp/300 odd ftlb so is naturally twitchy anyway but would a brace help at all?
    Cheers

    Will make zero difference.

  3. Why is it even a thing then? You tried them back to back? Genuine question.

  4. There was one in my Meglio when I bought it. I ran for a year, track days, tesco, then removed/sold it.There is a bit more room now, and as Jamie has said, no difference at all to the handling as far as I could tell.

  5. I wondered this too, I have not seen front or rear braces for the Megane which you do for most cars?

  6. Just been reading through another tread on braces, it makes sense that they would be of no benefit.

Have you seen where the dampers actually mount to?

If you genuinely want to stiffen the chassis then do it right and stick a cage in it that ties into the shell

  8. I have next to no idea about it which is why I want a consensus opinion and it seems to be they do fuck all. :-)

I do like the Clubsport look though but if a strutbrace is pointless weight then I won’t bother.
