In the next coming days I will be getting some BC Coilovers for my 250 Cup. I cant decide if to get the 7kg front & 7kg rear or 8kg & 7kg. The latter classed as fast road/track. I use the car as a daily and drive over from West Yorks to Greater Manchester 25 miles a day. Some pretty great driving roads to be fair on my commute. Just wanting to know if you guys have experience in both spring weights, as if I opted for 8kg that it will be too much as the roads are undulating by me. Thanks
I am running 10kg front and 8kg rears, mine is mainly track use, not a daily, maybe a little hard for day to day but great on track.
Full set up then Ian. Ktec recommended 7kg & 7kg but if I was hardcore 8kg front! Still going to be a daily but will take it to track later in the year.
Like Ian I'm running 10 front 8 rear and although its a fantastic set up its not best for a daily, although depends on the quality of the roads you frequent. I have a few decent rural roads near me and its epic, but on the usual B road quality repairs it can get a bit harsh.
Thought you would say its too much on the road to be honest. I'm leaning for 8kg front then. It will be going around the up north Ring
Horse for courses mate...i do like its set up on the road, just poor quality roads can be challenging. M-way and A roads are fine. If i used mine for more day to day stuff then yeah 8's would be better.

I had 8kg fronts and 7 rears on my mk2 and i would say the 10/8 setup on the mk3 is a lot more forgiving
8s are a nice balance, I ran 8/8 on my previous setup and now on 10/10s and it's pretty savage for the road now
Thanks guys. Think I'm going to go 8kg front & 7kg rear. Another question. Any of you fitted them? Anything to look out for? Probs going to order later today. Going to feel a different car after shocks blown. Will swap track rod ends too, anything else?
You will have to get the top of the strut mounting opened out, to enable for you to adjust them, could leave as it is but you will not be able to adjust them without removing the struts. Rears are easy as ....... Would be worth getting it set up properly, height, corner weight etc
Yeah just been looking at it with my mate. Don't think we could cut the top of the strut mounting ourselves. Trying to figure out who is best person to take it to. CGR haven't ever got back to me unfortunately. Could leave them as they are but seems pointless really.
I measured mine and if remember rightly it is 76mm diameter, they had a plate that bolted to the 3 mounting holes with a guide hole in the middle, so it wouldn't be that hard to replicate.
Yeah its bit more of a job than initially though, obviously why there's a bit of ££ involved for sorting it. Anyone got a picture of the plate. Might see if anyone local can replicate it close to me.
I have BC coilovers and they are 10kg front and 8kg rears, i find it good on the road, not as bad as BC's on my MK2 were. I find mine quite forgiving on road.
You don't have to cut out the top but it then means you can't adjust the camber when fitted, mine had the hole opened up to 76mm, just in case they need readjusting. I have 3 degs on the front and 1.5 on the rear.
Like Ian said if you are going to add camber on the front you want to shim the rear bar to get camber on the back as well!
I'm running 10kg front and 8kg on the rear, 3 degrees of camber front 1.5 on the rear, track use only and the drive to and from, it's not used for anything else
Personally i would go with the BC's, they can be adjusted for height and the springs can be uncompressed, the damping adjustment can be softened right off for the daily drive, i drive to and from the track on 5 from soft, (i drive miles to trackdays, my nearest track is 144 miles away) then on track they go up to 25 out of 30 if it's dry.
I run 8kg front & 7kg rear. I find on B roads UK around Yorkshire the 7kg on the back is too much. But on smoother roads its fine. It all depends on the type of surface you're on. But for track use go 10kg & 8kg like Ian said!
Thank you. I ordered 10-7 now. If it is to much for me I just take 2 other springs with 4-6 kg I think. But I like hard and stiff suspension. I think I like Bc'
