Replaced speakers 265

  1. I have just replaced the front and rear speakers on my 265 and also fitted the pioneer mini amp that lot of people have been using on the meganes on here but the sound isnt right. I fitted vibe slick 5c speakers all round and my car has the arkamys upgrade but when i turn the volume up to the level id normally listen at which isnt loud the speakers sound like there is too much bass and it’s distorted. I have rechecked the polarity to the speakers and that is fine and also rechecked the amp and all the switches are in the middle as suggested on the guide on here and it is set at 4channel also. Has anyone got any ideas of what to try next? Ive turned the arkamys boost off too and it helps slightly but there is still a problem there.

    Thanks

  2. No other bass/treble settings on the headunit? What settings can you use on the amp?

  3. On the head unit i have turned spatialisation off and i can pick rock bass pop etc so ive picked normal and that shows bass 0 treble 0. Im not sure on the amp settings i will need to look when i get home but the switches are set the way someone had commented on the guide on here and that was all in the middle.

  4. Might just need to play with the amp, the settings will vary depending on your speaker set up

Found a picture of the amp on the internet. I will take the glove box out again and move the switches about and see what difference it makes, its been that long since i done anything with speaker upgrade etc i just followed what id read on here.

  6. Where’s the input for new amp coming from ?
How many sources are you feeding to new amp ?

Those filter switches on amp won’t cause or fix the problem you’re describing

  7. The amp is wired through a parrot type adapter loom into the head unit just plug and play

  8. Of course it’s difficult to asses without hearing but if getting distorted sound does imply miss match either between amp and spk or preamp (headunit) and amp
Any way of hooking up another source like mini jack from phone to test amp/spk is compatible?

  9. You got model number of pioneer unit ?

  10. Its a pioneer d1004 amp. The amp is popular with the megane as far as i can see. If one speaker was bad would the others sound bad too? Just thinking i may have a bad speaker

  11. looks like your amp has hi level and lo level input, do you know which one used ?
one is by RCA connectors (4 way squid) the other by multi-pin connector
If got it wrong this would for sure cause distortion
If one spk is not well it will NOT in any way affect others

I really dont no to be honest i just bought this adapter and plugged it all together and didnt have to cut or move any wires about. There is a multi plug on each side of the amp and i just plugged in the wires supplied but i dont remember any way they could be changed about. I need to take the glove box out when i get home and see if there is anything that could be wrong. I will take pictures of the plugs and wiring etc and post them too. Could the adapter be wired wrong as its only for a parrot phone kit?

  13. Its not wired with the rca plugs they are still in the box

  14. I have same issue have you find some solution .. My does not play louder too just maybe 20% percent louder then before.

  15. I moved my amp and it works fine now. It was interference from an ecu under the dash.

  16. Thank you for your reply . Can you tell me how to fix it ? You just move with it? Or put it to some other place? Thanks a lot

  17. I moved it so it was just hanging on the wires and turned the radio on and placed it where it didnt interfere. I could hear it getting worse the closer i put the amp to an ecu thats above the glovebox
