Box oil change

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Jambo87, Jan 11, 2019.

  1. Evening gents. Changed shocks and springs last week and noticed cv boot had split, cars booked in next week to get replaced so thought may as well change gearbox oil while its up there. Question is which box oil do i need for a 250 non cup and wheres best place to get it from. Read a few articles about different opinions but these all seem to be cup cars. Would it make a big difference for oil between cup and non cup.

    Cheers

  2. The difference between cup and non-cup would be the LSD which might require a different oil.

My 175 uses the same PK4 gearbox and I used Fuchs Sintofluid 75W-80. Unfortunately I can't check the spec for the Megane 3 but I'd be surprised if it's different.

It doesn't matter if it's cup or non cup, it takes 75w-80 fully synthetic gear oil, should take 2.1ltrs
