Uprated turbo

  1. After a bit of advice,my R26 is getting forged soon due to the dreaded ring failure, want to upgrade the turbo, its running a 250 one at present, looking on RS tuning website at their one, is it worth going from the 250 to their hybrid version, looking to run a safe ish 330/340 bhp

  2. There would be good gains as it will be a 19/20t turbo depending on the stage. I know Engine dynamics do a stage 2 hybrid that will see that power its shows as £1080 on there site but if you create an account and put in your a member on here it is £980 and as far as i can remember rs tunings one is £1375ish

  3. Would it not be cheaper to put a mk3 lump in it?

  4. possibly, but id like to keep it as it is, engine number etc.
Cheers Jamie, I'll look into that, do you know if the RS tuning and engine dynamics turbos are the same?

  5. I couldnt see there being any difference to be honest the core of the turbo starts the same and the size it ends up will be the same so the only difference could be a different bearing or a billet wheel which is normally only around 80 quid to upgrade to but most will use the billet wheel and all bearings these days are 360 degree bearings anyway so the difference would be minimal if any im my opinion.

    Sorry Martin just seen this
I am thinking of going for a Garrett g55 or something like that, its a single scroll but has a roller bearing shaft, also spins up quicker and holds boost higher.
