I've been advised by a garage offering to do a 280bhp remap on my R26 that it will mean that cruise control doesn't work. It "might" be possible for a renault garage to correct this, they say. Is that a normal consequence of a remap? I don't really care about cruise control but I'm concerned a potential future buyer might be.
I’d be more concerned they don’t know what they’re doing. Any decent mapper will give you a better map and not fudge your cruise control. Where are you based and someone will be able to give you the details of a proper company.
I may be wrong but Engine Dynamics is probably your best bet unless you fancy driving to Yorkshire or Merseyside.
This remap was thrown in with the purchase price by the dealer which is the only reason I'm entertaining the idea. So just to be clear an engine remap does not normally affect the cruise control? Any idea why a less competent technician might accidentally break the cruise control?
Remapping the car can affect the cruise control, but as said any decent mapper will make sure it's still working before it leaves their unit. When I had my R26 mapped by Chris at EFI Parts he told me to test the cruise on my post map test drive to ensure it still worked as normal
I would take the car as it is but get him to knock off the price of the remap off the purchase price and get it mapped properly at EFI, then you will know who's done the mapping an done it properly.
Take it to rstuning its been mapped there before in fact i think i still have the files on my laptop for the remote tuning box i bought from rs tuning at the time. I think i may have stage 1,2 and 3 maps although you would need all the supporting mods for the stage 2 and 3.
Yep, for the moment I'm not that fussed about having it mapped, I'll probably make some other modifications first. But since it was thrown in free I thought why not? Well, now I know why not.
