Thoroughly enjoying this on PS4s on the road and 235s all round. Still not had the slave cylinder sorted either but have a forge radiator to go on as well
I put the standard 18’s back on with PS4 tyres at my last trackday as it was so wet. I have left them on as the extra grip on these cold wet roads is great. I feel really confident driving in any conditions on these tyres. I do miss the sunny weather and the feel of those AD08R tyres though, and my lovely Oz wheels, but I agree the PS4 tyres are great at this time of year.
I've got a problem [emoji23] Bought another set of wheels, this time some 17x9 ATS, pretty mega wheels if I say so. Just need to decide on colour then get my AR1s swapped over off the TDs, which are for sale
How many miles have you covered in it now. Do you never think of getting something else. I see xthilox and his mate both have Leon Cupras now
It's on 135k, I bought it with 12k. If I were to change, it wouldn't be for another fwd hatch with very similar performance. Something from the M division would be the only thing I'd change for really, fancy an F80 as a road car once values come down a bit more, but the Megane will still be here [emoji23]
I heard of people selling their VW R/GTI or AMG/ Ford RS, / Audi RS3 etc to get their hands on a megane 250... So, not a easy decision i think ... it's difficult to beat raw fwd power combined with punchy engine and THE best chassis ever fitted to a hot hatchback. The rest of the hatchback members are lacking one or another thing.. weight/ power / handling etc.. ( no, i don't work for Renault )
Have you been out in the apex team schirmer m3. God knows how much they spent on it but it's a rocket.
Great to see these engine sustain high mileage if looked after properly. Just out of interest, how many miles has it done remapped/tuned?
Nope but done several laps in a Schirmer GT Inc the supercharged XX29 Erm, it done 76k then bent a rod so had another replacement engine fitted that had done around the same milage as mine had, so current ones on about that 135k
Ah ok, still nearly 60k is good going. I'm on 73k stock, hoping to remap it eventually, either way hoping it'll last!
Should be fine, I had water ingestion a couple years previous which could of potentially weakened the rod that bent. The engine that's in it now ran stoxk power all its life until I got it
Mine is on 103k and looking at getting it mapped in the new year, done 8 trackdays since August and its great
Can you tell a bit more about the WMI and how you believe that might have impacted the reliability? Just fitted a kit myself and waiting to get it mapped in atm..
Sorry, mistyped that. Meant ingestion not injection haha. I looked into meth but didn't bother. More hassle that it was worth and don't think it will actually make a huge difference to them
Yup, thicker and adjustable. Last piece of the chassis puzzle to fine tune setup. Dunno what it weighs, somewhere between 1300-1350 id imagine, it isn't massively lighter than a stock car as my cage is pretty substantial
Still pretty light compared to some of the newer hot hatchs. Going to have to do something about the stock ride height on mine. How much different does it feel to drive with a set of coilovers on it.
Huge difference, depends on the use though. Its shite on the road. OEM cup with some uprated Arbs and maybe springs it probably the best road setup you can get
Arbs added to the list. My Cars on 56k or 7yr old no advisorys for bush play, was thinking of doing a front end refresh with all new balljoints, links etc do you think it's worth it or just wait till it feels sloppy. Feels good to drive but all new bits must improve it surely
It's worth doing just to freshen it all up, I do e full swivels etc a while back even though only one had went, but it's easier while it's all in bits to do it at once imo, parts ain't hugely expensive either really
On the lower wishbone arms, can you get replacement rubber inserts. I know you can on a mk2. Wouldn't want to strip it all down and find the bushs have loads of play in them.
Bye bye TDs, away to live on a Mates Megane out at the Ring as his wets. Ats away to get painted this week and have also swapped my pax seat for the GT width Suzuka
There's more than enough grip on them tyres to cope with your Scottish winter. They'll look lovely when fitted.
seen it on Facebook, i quite like those wheels nice choice and color too, will contrast nicely with the LY paint of the car
They look much much better. I know Scottish people have taste, shortbread, iron bru but your old wheels were horrible.
