ouch, not far off what i paid for my whole car :disappointed:

  3. For this kind of money, I would definitely try to tune the stock GKN one. But I'm just a cheap lad.

  4. Did you have any luck with finding out what needs to be done? As I have the car that made that power back in the day but the engine is no longer in the car. I’ve been finding out loads of info about it the last weeks one being that same graph being sent me from rs tuning as I didn’t believe that my megane was that power a mate of mine got in touch with the owner who had it built buy rs tuning. And he’s confirmed that the engine build cost him nearly the best part of 20k. I can give you the guys Facebook name if your still interested I have some pics of his engine set up at that time as well.

  5. Yeah, it’s in hand. I have a project build going on and it’ll be in a different direction to that - higher revs, linear graph, short final drive ratio

Hopefully be great once it’s done

  6. I’m looking at forging the one I’ve just brought but could I just use forged pistons and rods and get a good result ?

It all depends what the end result you want is, if its a safe engine running upto 380- 400hp then forged rods and pistons are all that's required.
Will be worth fitting good main and big end bearings at the same time, ARP big end bolts are a must though.

Depending on engine mileage, i would go for oversize pistons, so you know the bores are in 100% condition.

  8. 400bhp would be more than enough. Not sure on the engine the cars on 81k but previous engine was taken out as it was 454bhp and had 20k spent on it so the owner at the time took that out. The one that’s in it atm runs nice pulls really really well it’s 300bhp with hybrid turbo bigger injectors itg induction etc. Just wanting the engine as reliable as possible but the extra ponies will be a bonus.

I would then go for 1st oversized rebore, just to be sure the pistons match the bore.
If you are wanting to push the output to over 350hp, then i would suggest you find a 250/265 fuel rail, then you can eliminate the fuel issues to number one cylinder, also it will give you rising rate fuel pressure, you would also have to change the relief valve in the fuel tank to a 5bar one a fairly easy job to do
