275 Spare wheel

  1. Does anyone know what the factory supplied spare wheel was on on RS 275 nav with 18s? Looking for a spec and a pic of the wheel in the wheel well ideally.

  2. Not sure why you would want one, but just buy a normal alloy, the space saver won't clear the front calipers

  3. Just bumping this to see if anyone can help. I'd like to have some idea of what the spec of the spare wheel / tyre is.

Does a full size 18 incher fit in the well?

  4. Yes an 18" will fit in the well

  5. I have a full size 19 in mine

  6. I have a genuine get you home spare for sale.

  7. My 265 has a space saver in the boot. I will see if I can get some details of it.

  8. That works be brilliant. Thanks!

  9. You wont think its brilliant when you get a flat front tyre

  10. Then you move a back wheel to the front and put the space saver on the back.

  11. yay, change two wheels in the pouring rain, in the pitch balck on the side of the road, or just carry a normal alloy

  12. Use up loads of boot space for the small chance of having a puncture, no thanks. But hey we are all different.

Not really though, When a full size 18" cup wheel with a 235 tyre fits fine in the wheel well?

  14. And a space saver uses up less space.

Punctures are rare, I will take my chances with a space saver, a compressor and a can of tyre weld.

There is no right or wrong answer, just pick what you prefer.

So your telling me you use the wheel well for storage as well?

A 255 Semi slick on a 9J also fits in it :tearsofjoy:

  16. that's good to know :laughing::laughing::laughing:

  17. I'd be hugely grateful if someone with an RS mk3 and the space saver spare could take a pic of the wheel well. I'm trying to figure our how everything is arranged under the boot floor. Can you help?

  18. Will do it tomorrow morning if nobody else has by then. Consuming beer at present!

  19. Thank you. Definitely do not interrupt the beers!

  20. Still going to buy a space saver lol

  21. Here you go, hope it helps! IMG_20181007_122335.jpg IMG_20181007_122330.jpg IMG_20181007_122318.jpg

  22. Thats brilliant. Thanks v much.

Is there anything that sits between the top edge of the wheel and the boot floor to stop it from collapsing into the gap?

Looks like there is about a 4 inch gap from your pics and the boot floor insert is fairly thin.

  23. There is another shaped piece that sits beneath the boot floor but it's pretty useless to be honest.
My boot floor is a bit saggy, not the best design! Could maybe insert a piece of foam/polystyrene to fill the gap from the tyre to the boot floor, I rarely use the boot so it hasn't bothered me too much!

  24. Thanks Paddy. You've been a great help.

  25. @Paddy80 Don't suppose you could post a pic of the shaped piece that sits beneath the boot floor?

  26. No probs mate, will do it in the morning.

  27. Here you go mate.

  28. Thanks Paddy, that's great.

  29. Just wanted to check - is that now all of the bits underneath the boot floor that you've photographed?

I have that last bit that you've posted above and the 'D' shaped indentations it aren't deep enought to contact the space saver wheel, so the boot floor would still collapse down if something heavy was placed on it.

Is there anything else between that piece and the wheel?

  30. .... nope. This is why I got a full sized spare... it holds up the floor.

  31. That's all the bits mate. I pack it out with an old blanket to stop it sagging! Appreciate a full sized spare would solve the problem. Unfortunately it's not really for for purpose!
