225 thermostat housing gasket question.

  1. Hi. Quick question. Would you use a sealant on top of a new gasket for the thermostat housing or fit it dry ?.

  4. So....I had coolent in the water last month and thought the worst. Fell out of love for the car as was looking at a big bill.
    But after comments on here and with an an independent renault garage saying the same thing regarding the thermostat housing gasket could be the problem I decided to change that and renew the oil and coolent. And new thermostat.
    It looks like that this was the problem as after a couple of easy runs all levels are fine....So far. Thank feck.
