I actually saw it yesterday at the shop. All the planned work on it is nearly complete. Next step is the custom tune. Pics and details to come when complete.
Cool stuff, very excited to see the result. Must say thumbs up for (afaik) being the first to take this step!
How much hate is it getting on the other forum Dook? I'd personally of had it installed further down to help extract hot air from the cooling pack but I'm sure it still helps where it is now, is the naca duct just to get cooler air onto the turbo?
I haven't yet posted photos but even so, those that have expressed an opinion can't fathom doing such a thing to a Trophy R. The radiator and shroud sit surprisingly far back looking at closed bonnet. I would have liked it further forward but it would have fowled the fuel rail and wiring. I'm looking at adding a small lip on the front of the vent to push the airflow up and therefore creating lower pressure over the vent to extract any hot air. Yes, the NACA duct directs air to the turbo.
ED level 2 turbo, silicon intake hose, ITG intake kit, 630cc injectors. Wagner intercooler. CGR Ti 3” exhaust. Airtec turbo cooler. Canard and Koya big brake kit. Speed holes and windscreen banner. Race Spec tune with launch control. Dyno graph. I don’t know what it means for the way you guys make up your flywheel power as this shows the kW and Nm measured at the wheels. On this dyno a standard 275 makes 160kW/300Nm vs this at 198kW/390Nm. The shape of the curves is exactly what I asked for. Very happy!
Well done Dook, looks bloody savage. I better see some stonking track times coming haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Wagner sits in the original I/C location where the Pro Alloy cooler would sit. I didn’t want a Pro Alloy style I/C blocking the radiator given our hot conditions.
I'll check it at the track this Friday. I'd expect that it wouldn't have significant impact on oil temp but I wanted something to reduce the load on the water cooling system. It's not a silly lean tune. We could have gone for more power but although it's a track car, it's one a drive to and from the track so I wanted some reliability.
Just a note on the dyno, we normally see the Meg's lose about 40-50bhp through the drivetrain typically so you're probably running around 310bhp at the flywheel for reference.
The OZ wheels look good! So the temps haven’t really changed from stock. But that’s probably a good sign with the amount of power / heat it’s generating over a stock turbo one. So, success ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks! And I'm loving it's new sound. Before it was too OEM quiet but now its sound matches its performance. I did have this happen to me in the first session of the first lap. I was treating it as an installation/warm-up session only. I think the internals of the muffler blew out. You'll see it on the rear facing camera as I come onto the straight.
Yep and it didn't miss a beat unlike some of the other cars of the day. In this video I'm chasing a Porsche Caymen. It's a competition car with roll cage from Hamilton Autohaus.
Any plans for a better suspension setup on it now? Looks like the slicks are really working the Ohlins overtime now
I'm currently running the RSC Suspensions Pro Upgrade kit for Ohlins plus I'm running a rear ARB. Despite this I'm getting more body roll with the slicks and as a result I'm getting inside front wheel spin as it gets unloaded exiting a corner under full throttle as it overwhelms the available grip. That's the limitations of a helical diff. I have now ordered a Gripper diff. Plans for better suspension is some Golds from MCA: https://mcasuspension.com/suspension Murray Coote is an institution here and for many years has supplied championship winning teams in circuit, targa rally, dirt rally and WTAC. Not cheap but bespoke and very high quality and performance.
Yeah I've heard of MCA before and fully expected that to be your solution haha! Are you gonna spec the kit for slicks with the appropriate spring rates and damping?
Just had a road/track spec gripper fitted as part of my gearbox rebuild after standard diff and lay bearings failed. Pick my car up in the morning from Ktec
