Out of interest mate, did you do all the work yourself and how much were the parts? Thinking of doing mine over winter if the costs aren’t too bad! Cheers
Heya dude. Luckily i had borrowed a engine crane and engine stand from a mate which would cost around £70 a week to hire. Had to buy and engine second hand which was £800 Engine parts alone came to just over £2000 and i build the engine myself
Car is all good and running well, only boring thing being is that i havent been able to give the car any sort of flooring/throttle as the fueling obviously isnt mapped for the hybrid turbo which has been very painful but necessary. Engine had a change of oil and filter at 500 miles and have continued running another 5 litres of MINERAL oil which will stay in till the mapping/dyno runs are done tommorow which i feel is important as engine still hasnt had any real load through it because of change of turbo so the mineral oil will allow any more bedding in needed etc. I have been going out very early in mornings doing local motorways to get the miles on fast.will do the same tommorow morn before mapping at midday. I am so excited to drive the car and be able to give it some beans and it will be a shock to the system as its been ages !!
So the car got mapped and i am so happy with the out come. 310.8 bhp and 305.6 ftlbs. The graphs faint lines show my old remap and stock turbo and now with hybrid uptop revs i have gained 70 bhp compared to stock. Power has been capped as the stock r26r clutch is comfortable around the 310 ftlbs. Andy said stock fuel pumps still working fine and fuelings good. Both fueling and boost printout is very very smooth and well mapped. Done a whole bunch of miles now also. Finally i have my car back.....but now i am so broke and cant afford the trackdays i want to do lol.
Tonight i did a few bits to front bumper area. Firstly i did a removal and smooth over of the headlight washer jets. Secondly i put a blanking plate in the offside fog light. Lastly i upgraded the nearside foglight ducting that leads upto the airfilter,i originally fitted a 2" piece of ducting and i have now upgraded it to a 3" which will get a bit more cold air to the filter.
Yesterday i had an issue with the upper engine mount bending when i was under full throttle. It happened when hit a few ripples on the road surface and traction control cut in then off ,loud bang and found this. All other engine mounts are in place and good. I have temporarily bent it back which was alarmingly easy as its just to bits of metal squished together and the rubber bush had dislodged aswell. I am ordering up another new one to get here next week and shall have my machinist at work reinforce it as they are so weak and cheaply made
My new torque dog bone arrived today . It's made by Evol and is substantially stronger and better made than the stock one. Have yet to take the car out and see if the dogbone feels or sounds any different in the driver seat (stiff polybushes and extremely rigid design) but it should be a great upgrade.
Took some nice photos of the megane which I haven't really done at all with any of my cars before. Took some photos of the carbon door cards also as they deserve to be showcased
Have resorted back to the OEM torque mounting and all is well again. Cannot believe just how awful that poly mount was .never again lol.
