Mk2 Aftermarket Exhaust

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Liddell92, Jun 20, 2018.

  1. Hey all,

So i'm looking for some advice + opinions on the best aftermarket exhaust for a mk2 225 trophy. I'm sure there is a thread around this already, but i want opinions from people who have previously or currently own a mk2.

I've looked into Milltek, and the KTEC 3" exhaust systems and at the moment i think i prefer the KTEC, but haven't heard the sound of it irl and thats a big factor for me.

    Thanks,

    James

  2. Hi James,

We don't have any regulations where I live (South Africa).

Took my car to a local exhaust place and they build one for me. Straight 76mm. Paid in UK currency around 80GBP haha and 4 years later its still fine. Only mild steel but meh.

It was loud already but later removed the downpipe cat and had a 63mm downpipe installed. Now it's load af but personally enjoy it. Could probably just throw in a few silncer boxes and it would be more "acceptable". Nice bangs and pops though [emoji39]

Converted to single oulet with a self made rear grill. Will try to find a pic.

  3. Before and after diy grill. Stuck some black vinyl on the centre piece to "mask" the blue centre.

My brother did the same on his R26 but added a dummy outlet on the right side too, gave it some matt black paint on the inside so it looks carboned. 7fa4bf49ebe008235c9348d93d2f8a27.jpg d3a924305c97bc4986d82548d29193ea.jpg

  5. This looks good, bet it sounds great. Think i'm going for a more off the shelf exhaust though

  6. This sounds amazing, is there a difference between the Turbo back KTec 3" and the Cat Back 3"?

    Thanks,

    James

  7. I can't say for certain as I fitted the whole system as opposed to just the cat-back first. My assumption is that it would sound similar except that the standard down pipe is quite restrictive and would muffle some of the sound. Perhaps someone with just a cat-back could comment.

  8. Yeah i suppose your missing out on some sound as not getting the new down pipe. Would be interesting to hear both side by side.

  9. I have the full turbo back Pure Motorsport system. Really pleased with it and fitted really nicely.
