275 R

  1. Which front splitter is that?

  2. You're very lucky that it's not your car then. Too bad the price doesn't match the "look". What you can't see in those photos is the flat floor.

With the 255's on the rear it was stable in the high speed sweepers and getting the rear to turn in was a excellent. You're right about our track temps as my last track day was in 35 degrees.

RK Design. Those pics are from my mechanic. About to pick up my car now!

  3. I like the look of those rear conards. Looks tough.

Gonna do Challenge Bathurst this year Dook?

You got to keep the non-R 275’s in check

  4. So I picked up the R from RenoTech following a number of job requests. Fitted was:
    • Front and rear carbon badges
    • RSC Ohlins pro upgrade kit
    • RK Design under floor panels and splitter kit
    • External rear view carbon mirrors
What was not fitted was the CAE shifter as CAE omitted a shifter rod assembly. Ordered through K-Tec and I have to thank Dan for his persistence in getting the part sourced and delivered to me quickly but just missing the boat on installation. That'll need to be done on the next trip to RenoTech.

Now to test it all out on the track day this Thursday!

  5. Nice!

  6. In the flesh, the Akrapovic exhaust surround looks cheaper than the splitters.

    Thanks!
I'd love to do Bathurst but I can't take those dates off at that time of year unfortunately.

    Thanks!

  8. So what's the deal with CAE shifters. I know that it costs a fortune but can you describe how they feel / how good they are

  9. Personal opinion, nice to look at, shorter throw, more of a notchy direct shift, worth spending the money on `no`.

    This, 100 times over.

Biggest waste of money im ever likely to spend, those that say otherwise are just trying to justify it to themselves

  11. Firstly it needs to be installed properly/professionally and tuned. As each car is different, despite an intent of manufacturing identical vehicles, just like tuning an ECU to the unique characteristics of an individual vehicle. If it's not installed and then tuned properly it's certainly a big waste of money.

In my opinion, the shift is so precise. It feels like an H-pattern sequential. It's even better than some dog boxes I've driven. I'm yet to drive it on the track but I'm looking forward to see what it's like on the track. My car spends 95% of it's time on the track. Nearly all of the other 5% is getting to and from the track. If your car is mostly a street car with an occasional track day then I wouldn't recommend it.

I certainly won't be disputing if others think it's the biggest waste of money that they have spent on their car but I don't have that regret. For me, it's my money, it's my car and I'm having fun spending money on both useful and useless mods.

What can I say, im a sucker for shiny bits.

If I were ever to build another Megane, basic breathing mods, completely stripped, ASTs and uprated arbs and away you go

  15. What do you class as basic breathing mods. Panel filter and a intercooler

Filter and Decat are the main ones, Larger fmic to keep things consistent

  17. Yes it's on an 86/BRZ but, he explains what I've experienced so far:

  20. How'd you go about ordering the RK design stuff? Struggling to work there website as its in japanese and trying to figure out an all in cost to the UK as postage is probably cheaper as you're closer, did you manage to get through to anyone english speaking through there site or did you just have to figure it out and order through it?

  21. I couldn't find an online shop option with RK Design so I used a buying service called White Rabbit Express. They were excellent: https://www.whiterabbitexpress.com/ These guys will provide itemised quotes for everything with a range of options before you OK any payment.

Recently I was hoping to order from Waldow Performance but they weren't willing to sell outside of Germany (or ship to Australia at least) so I'm using this service for the purchase: https://mygermany.com/ So far, so good.

Guessing it’s part of induction system maybe

  24. For where is this ? Looking verry good!

  25. It's a bonnet vent to be positioned as close as possible to the radiator.

  29. I am kind of in the middle here, I bought one a while ago, and while it is certainly more enjoyable to drive with I don't think they are worth the £1K cost to buy. Also fitting it is a PITA! I am happy with mine but they take some adjusting to get right and you almost need to make sure the revs are matched to get the smoothest change in my experience, as it is definitly more nothcy than standard. That being said, it does make it feel like a touring car to drive and I don't think i'd sell mine, I just think that if they were a £500 modification then it would be more viable.

Dook, car is looking ace, but go easy on those bonnet vents we don't want it looking too much like a civic type R!

  30. But I'm JDMing my Renault.

  37. Another thing I’d say about the cae is that I believe it puts more strain on your synchro’s due to the way the pivot points and moved, thus transferring the stress to another area. I have just fitted my OEM shifter back in and while it feels poo compared to the cae it’s much less aggro to change. I think the design could be improved further to get a happy medium. Not sure how this would be done. Need someone like Colin Satchell on the case he’d sort it out! I had one of his Rose jointed kits in my Rallye and it was awesome.

  38. All the more reason to get a Sadev!
