Opinions guys???

  1. Hi Guys,

I been given different advice from a few people which has knocked my confidence abit.

    1. I had my heart set on getting my Car mapped by RS Tuning soon from what advice i was given from other people. i was then told that RS tuning Has been know to have course a few issues on people cars i.e blown up or engine problem's after they have been mapped by them. Has anyone had any issues like this by Rs Tuning? as i thought they was the daddy for mapping megane's ect.

    2. Regarding intercoolers for the megane RS 265 what would you lot recommend? i was advised that AirTec and Forge was no good. Pro Alloy was recommend by Rs tuning but would like to know everyone else's opinion as there is a big price difference.

P.S this thread is not to say RS tuning is bad or anything as i don't know them. I would just like others advice on this.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Mine was mapped by them, has not blown up yet, think mine has a pro alloy, but forge should be OK

  3. How much BHP and torque levels are you getting?

  4. mine was mapped by then many years ago,and is still going strong.
as you say, paul has the best reputation of any Renault tuner.
If you map any car,you are taking a chance,as you put additional strain on the engine.

I would never take my car to be tuned anywhere else.

  6. B926B4E9-C6DE-44BA-826E-2FC4A641A197.jpeg My car has been remapped by Rs tuning and has never had a problem. Ecotune, EFI, and engine dynamics also seem to have good reputations too so it could be best going to the one nearest to you. For intecoolers the Airtec stage 1 is a good shout as it doesn’t block your radiator and is reasonably priced.

  7. Hi James.

    Cheers for the response.

Are all the intercoolers that I have Mentioned stage 1 or are they all different?

  8. Airtec do a stage 1 & 2 and forge do a standard one and a hot climate one I think.

  9. Ah, I see I see... Cheers for the Information matey thank you

  10. well the numbers cant lie, RST have mapped literally hundreds of cars without issue. The more they map the higher the chance of odd failure due to weak or bad maintenance and those are the ones folk like to post derogatory comments about. If still concerned there's always Engine Dynamics who get equally stunning results.

  11. Understandable matey does make sense. Hence the reason I'm asking people thoughts just for some clarity.

  12. Regarding intercoolers, it's best to get a smaller one which doesn't block the radiator like the pro alloy one does. The reason RST promote that is because they sell it and don't sell any of the other brands.

The Airtec Stage 1 is more than capable plenty of people on here run the Airtec one.

  13. Cheers for the Information pal. I'm definitely confused now lol.

RST said 'airtec and forge intercoolers gives to Much problems and are sh**t hence they don't sell them'

But your now saying something different to Them. If there saying that so I can purchase there one il Be very disappointed.

  14. I know plenty of people who run Airtec Intercoolers, whether it be on meganes or other cars and they've never had any issues.

I think the majority of people on here have an Airtec Intercooler, so it can't be that bad.

I've heard of some stories of people's Airtec ones not working properly, but that's bound to happen, all brands suffer with faulty stock issues once in a while.

  15. As stated above really, my Megane has been mapped and had the map tweaked at RSTuning and I wouldn’t go anywhere else really, but that is personal opinion.

I run a pro-alloy cooler now, previously a gpi one, the pro alloy flows better and has reduced intake temperatures on a pull. However, plenty of people running airtec and forge with no issues. If you go on the pro alloy website you can see the comparison of all 3

  16. Depends what your going to use the car for, if your doing a lot of track work you want the most efficient inter cooler to keep temps low. I think the Wagner one is the best

  17. How you doing Danny,

i will be doing track days now and then. i don't really want to batter my car to much.

  18. People keep banging on about the Pro alloy blocking the radiator. Other people have mentioned this being a shit design. I`m sure these companies have some idea on how to design a f**king intercooler. If the Pro Alloy is shit because it blocks the radiator, then why have Airtec followed suit & now offer one that apparently blocks the rad (stage 2 version). I have had an Airtec & Pro alloy. Personal thoughts are that the Airtec was more agricultural in build quality. I have a Pro alloy ( the one which blocks the rad) , i am constantly breaking down with steam pouring out from under the bonnet due to the shit design.

  19. there was me thinking the Airtec one blocked the rad more? I have the airtec fitted to mine, no issues and its used mainly on track.

  20. Cheers for the comment bud

first thought in my head regarding your issue is f**king hell!! what made you switch from Airtec to Pro Alloy? i'm guessing you will be going straight back to AirTec or a different brand.

I been advised a few times now that WagnerTunning does the best of the best intercoolers, hopefully this is ture.

  21. I`m not banging the drum for RS or Pro Alloy, but haven`t had any issues with the remap. I originally had an Airtec , & due to a fault with the intercooler ( which Paul/RS highlighted when trying to map it the first time) i ended up with the Pro Alloy. Airtec had the cooler back & tested it & it was faulty. This was probably just my luck in buying a duff one, but they apologised & gave a refund without any issues. Take your pick, its your money. Not to cast another dark cloud over the forum, but just because something is more expensive or flash, doesnt mean your going to get shit hot products. I have had issues with my KW clubsports being built by a hamfisted moron, & had a cage fitted by an expert ( proclaimed to be the best), & ended up severly f**ked off with shit workmanship & bodges.

  22. The comment about breaking down all the time was not true. Just my sarcasm.

  23. I hear what your saying regarding price and such and such. I don't have a clue on whats the best to whats hence the reason i'm asking people. So far it just been a mixture of comments. I just want whats best for my 2015 RS 265

We'll be developing an intercooler for the Mk3 platform next month which we're confident will be the best physically available on the market - we wouldn't be doing one otherwise! Pricing and details to follow in the next 4-6weeks or so, but keep your eyes peeled.

Just to throw a spanner in the works but we also offer mapping too to a very high standard, just for consideration

I have had mine remapped by RS,but i have not gone for the inter-cooler route i went for something completely different, i went for a charge cooler, when Paul mapped it he didn't like the charge cooler but its still on there working fine, i had a problem with mine after mapping it dropped a valve at Spa, i am sure this was nothing to do with his mapping, i can't under stand what it was as i drive so steadily never over 4k rpm :laughing::laughing:
Mine actually lives on the rev limiter so i am not surprised it let go, it all been forged now and i have got back from RS via Oulton park last night and i will be going back when the fuel system is sorted, ohh and i live 330 miles from RS :sunglasses:

  27. Mines been mapped by RS tunning. also has their Hybrid turbo. Paul knows his stuff so i wouldnt worry. There will always be a few complaints when hes that busy!
    Mines running 340bhp.
Mines fitted with an airtec, not sold on pro alloy but thats my personal preference.

  28. Cheers for the comment James,

Which airtec did u get can u send a link or something matey.

I think im one of those that your on about in your post

Do you run the additional cooler?

Its weird how people see coolant temps being very high with the larger coolers yet those smaller ones dont have any issues with the coolant temps and why Pro offer the additional cooler. Loads had issues when Forge brought out their original cooler with that exact issue, hence they do the "hot climate one"

Im very much in the camp that if you want the most efficient cooling setup then a shorter FMIC and an Oil cooler is the way to do it, The latter being more important. Oil temps are 20/30 degrees less with a cooler. That in turns keeps everything else cooler.

  31. No i dont have the `additional `cooler. The smaller intercoolers (Airtec, Forge ) are classed as `hot climate` coolers, i personally dont think we live in a hot climate, ( & the last time i was on holiday in Scotland, i never encountered heat/sun, plenty of midges). For Airtec to add an additional intercooler into their range that is taller must have some degree of reason. I dont doubt that shoving a tall intercooler in front of a radiator isnt going to have a detrimental effect on water temperatures, but we aren`t in Malaysia. Yes, heat generated from a hammering on a track day. Forge offered an upgraded radiator, Pro Alloy offer an additional smaller rad, obviously to counteract the effect on the rad. Don`t want to get dragged into a `who makes the better cooler ` argument. Each to their own, choices, choices.

  32. Back to the original question, most places get the odd shit review/horror story. Superchips, people say avoid them, but they must be doing something right as they have been going for years, likewise with Ktec, same again (shit mapping blah blah blah). The Wagner bandwagon seems to have gone quiet, dont know who on here has one fitted, be interesting to get a genuine back to back to see if all these claims that these companies make, actually come to fruition. Plenty of people have Airtec & are happy with them, personally, build quality/standard between Airtec & Pro Alloy are in a different league (my opinion, which according to my misses counts for f**k all).
