Has anyone ordered up the clip software on eBay and loaded it on a laptop and successfully made changes to their car with it? What cable did you get/use?
Yes, have had mine for a couple of years and used it plenty of times. The exact one I bought isn't available now, but from the same seller as I used, there is this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FULL-CHI...ROG-V162-DIAGNOSTICS-OBD-2-DACIA/322839593741 The only hurdle to overcome is that it only runs on 32 bit machines, so I had to purchase an old 32 bit XP laptop to run it on, but I picked that up for about £50, and use it solely for this. The unit has worked reliably for me on my Megane, plus several Clios.
I have one as well think it's the v163 i bought, a mate split split my hard drive so i have win 7 and 10, but don't get much opportunity to use it and i don't do computers We well my mate struggled to set it up initially took him a couple of hours would have taken me forever before it would end up in the bin
It can run on newer, I installed a 32 bit version of Windows 10 on a virtual machine on my MacBook Pro, works great.
Everything Jamie You can remap the ecu with it if you have the right knowledge, but mainly for most, it will let you test all the computers reset fault codes, i even managed to check that there was the right number of pulses on the abs rings on all four wheels thought i had a faulty abs ring.
Well thanks for the replies guys. I am thinking all I need is the software disc and a cable for odb2 to laptop....not sure if I need the shiny silver box on some adverts if running from a laptop
You do need the shiny silver box That's the bit that does all the work and translates it so that the computer can read the data.
I just got one of these off of eBay, was AUD$130 landed and came with clip v172. It works well, you just have to follow the install instructions exactly. I am running it on windows7 home basic (as it is a 32bit version I had spare) under VMWare workstation. Now I just need to get the clip instruction videos I have seen advertised !
