R26 A-pillar leak

Discussion in 'Exterior & Bodywork' started by Xanda73, Jan 9, 2014.

  1. What with all this rain, I've noticed that water is leaking into the car from the r/h/s top corner of the windscreen/a-pillar.

Question is, has anybody else had this and managed to work out how it's getting in? It's bad enough that there is water on the drivers seat sometimes, and I'm sure more of it will be running down the pillar trim to corrode anything it comes into contact with. Everything looks okay, the same as the near side which doesn't leak, and I can't see that the glass has been replaced at any point.

  2. Probably from factory tbh. My screen wasn't sealed properly when had my changed.

This - it seems to be a factory issue on some of them, Mine was on the original screen and the glass fitter showed me how much sealant was missing on the original!

  4. Right - got in tonight and it's worse than ever, water all over the seat. Cars not even 6 years old FFS.

it's flowable silicone sealant. I'll try to re-seal it myself. Failing that, smash the windscreen and claim on insurance? (joking)

Whilst scouting around I stumbled upon this site: http://www.clean-image.co.uk/car-water-leak.htm
