Im currently looking for my first rs megane. Seen this on autotrader. http://www.g50motorcompany.co.uk/us...r&at_medium=unknown&at_campaign=website-visit Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on it. Price seems reasonable for the mods, just not sure what to look out for when i test drive it... its got 60k on the clock.
clonking suspension from the front is a common fault.. not to many other problems with the mk3 This car however doesnt have the cup chassis as it doesnt have the red brembo callipers,so it wont be as sharp in the handling department. and obviously doesnt have the recaros. does look tidy though..has premium tyres..alway a good sign the car has had money spent on it,and not run into the ground.
i got 303bhp with just a remap on my 2012, i would have thought you would have got more(non cup). Get that car on a rolling road! On topic more i personally didn't want the cup, mine will never go near a track so i wanted the performance with a little more road comfort. I am now getting the knock from the front left though
Was the remap on the car before you brought it or did you have it done?. Very bizarre how you and Mikey have pretty much the same bhp but you have no performance modifications.
I had it done after, it made 262 (I think) before. The Map I had done doesn't achieve the torque figures of the RS tuning does sadly.
I take he did not have his car on the same rollers, his could have been a bit over, as some rolling roads as we know are a bit over, I guess we would have to get both cars on the same set
Most MK3s in general do, mine made 265 and I know of several 265/275s that make 10-20bhp over stock on various dynos
There is talk of myself and a couple of friends doing a dyno day in Norwich in the next couple of months. Will be interested to see what mine makes as standard. I'm sure I remember seeing a road test years ago where Chris Harris did a back to back dyno of a 250 and Focus RS and I think the Megane made quite a bit more than factory figures.
Will be interesting to see the results, when you get them could you post them up. Are you planning any modifications?
Yeah would be interesting to see what it does. I'm not sure if I'll change anything. It's standard bar a mid box chop currently, but I probably won't go any further than an intercooler and remap.
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201711171344680 This one has an airtec fmic and 304bhp and is a cup. Had belts, clutch, pump dephaser, dmf all replaced only a few months ago.
I really like the mid box chop. Driving normally and at cruising speed, it basically sounds OEM, which is what I wanted. Under load it sounds a bit less like a vacuum cleaner and has a bit more of a rasp. Quite a few more pops and bangs too. For £50, it's well worth it. I hadn't really thought about an injector change. My understanding is that it's not really needed with the standard turbo. A remap and intercooler should give 300-320bhp which I think will be plenty!
Was looking into a midbox chop myself, cheap mod. Glad to hear your opinion of being worth doing. 320 sounds very nice
