Hi chaps. I don't have the Renaultsport monitor in my car so i'm never certain when the oil is up to the correct temperature. Could someone help me out with a little bit of info as to when the oil is up to temp in normal road driving. i.e. after 10 mins when outside temp is around 10 degrees; 20 min if outside temp is 0 degrees etc or is it pretty much up to the correct running temp when the water is at the correct temp? Sorry for all there 'temps'. Cheers
Oil takes longer to get upto temp that water, I find 5-10 miles gets it to a temperature where I feel I can push it a bit more. It's not just engine oil you want to warm up though
I gathered around 10-15mins. My brother has an e46 m3 which takes a good 20-30 to warm up. Its the one thing my car is missing. Yep I am fully aware of brakes and tyres etc mate. Cheers
More about distance than time, 8 miles in winter, 5 in summer and equally important change engine oil around 5k miles and not insane 19k reno mention, you engine will love you for it
5000 is fine if you're tracking all the time but its not a super bike engine haha no need for every 5k! I change at the indicated times and in-between when i feel the need. Plus mine is every 24 months or 12k which ever first. My last one was done 6K ago and i have 600 miles to the next indicated service as it was carried out in-between by myself after a long trip around the highlands
Here's some graphs of coolant and oil temperature measurements from my Megane, from cold starts on days with ambient temperatures of 14°C and -1°C. Driving style and route was similar for both days. Surprisingly similar times for temperatures to reach the same point, given the different ambient temperatures. Time taken for coolant to reach around 76°C is 350 seconds and 390 seconds respectively, whilst time for oil to reach around 720°C is 490 and 510 seconds respectively.

Coolant should hit 84deg when at operating level My thermostat was sticking open at 75ish had it replaced and it was night and day after
@StephRS I have a MoTeC C185 installed in the car and am logging most of the data off the CAN bus. @mattyw The thermostat is opening and closing correctly as you can see the effect of this in the logged data, plus it's behaviour has been consistent for the last 18 months, so I'm inclined to say it's working ok.
If you are happy great I was just sharing the info My thermostat indicator on the dash was just sitting slightly off centre even after a 30min drive and my scangauge read circa 76. Got the thermostat done and now sits dead centre and reads 84deg on my scangauge
