yep mine does when lights are on

 

Mine shares the same symptoms as Ash87's. I looked down a couple of months ago, and it was on for a couple of days, then when I next fiddles with a charger or whatever it went off and hasn't lit up since!

How do you remove it to check the connections/replace the bulb?!

 

Mine doesn't light up. Always wondered if it was meant too.

 

I have an 08 R26 and mine does light up. I guess you need a new bulb or the connection as become disconnected.

 

I managed to pop the lit ring up a bit during my lunch break, but it wont come completely through the centre console, so I couldn't work out how to change the bulb or check the connection. If anyone knows how to, let us know!

 

You need to lift out the entire section to get access to the bulb. I noticed this when I swapped my centre console for an arm rest and I'd removed and replaced all the bits. Not too difficult as they all clip in.

 

Hope it hasn't gone. New one is 48quid iirc.

 

I bought a genuine 12v outlet front ads instead of the lighter surround - It's just a cap on a hinge with no illumination.

Personally I think it's miles better then a manky looking fag lighter - I don't smoke and don't let people anyway.

 

Naaa - you can do it just removing the gear gaitor.

 

The metal insert has to come out before the surround,
There are two clips holding it in,
Better to just remove the centre console and change the bulb! It's easier and quicker!

 

well that's my job for the afternoon! What bulb did you use? If you can chuck up a link to the correct type it would be much appreciated; I can grab it this afternoon!
