m235i coupe power

  1. Just to say i work in bolton and noticed a 235i white coupe giving it some beans onto m61 so followed it as going same way home as me!
Got to a stretch where we can go from 50mph upwards and had my window open and he was nailing it and he was defo not pulling away!
Mines remapped to approx 290bhp he pulled off at 2 junctions down and think he was not too happy!
bad driver?or power to weight ration seems about right?

  2. My 250 is mapped to about 300, and my co-worker in his manual M135i pulled away very very slightly while doing 100-200kph.

  3. Got to remember though these are mapped vs non mapped!

  4. My mate has a 240i, crazy quick in a straight line think it's the DCT as it just feels like constant speed

  5. Its a wonderful engine in the 240/140.
Its a shame the styling on the 140 is so plain..could so easily be a 116d.

My mate has just bought a 140i..says its blisteringly fast, but soulless.
mind you,he is coming from a jap import fn2 type R,so about as far apart as you can get.

  6. And all the 116d drivers drive like they're in a 140i

  7. Isn't the 235i about 320bhp or something? I suspect probably a touch heavier than the Megane. Factor in the unpredictability of conditions and drivers and they would appear pretty close I suspect.

  8. 320 idd, and just 40kg weight difference...

  9. yep and 330lb/ft...twin scroll turbo

  10. ha ha...classic...and all to true.

  11. I used to drive an m135i - in standard form I can see it being similar to a mapped megane. They do respond pretty well to a decat & remap though, upwards of 370hp and a big old slug of torque. Funny chassis though, never found it that confidence inspiring.

  12. I was trying to find some stock dyno results but the ones I could find suggested they might be a bit short on claimed figures? Strange for a FI car, but I'd imagine like for like one of the automatics would be faster anyway, do like the ZF boxes. Best of both worlds.

  13. Just like all A/CLA drivers, who think they have an A45/CLA45

  14. I was in the r26 on a trackday with a new i135 and it could not really pull away on the straights. Mine has 272hp but is only around 1240kg which is probably a lot lighter

  15. Thanks guys, yes i did the math and probs similar bhp per tonne and i think the guy didn`t factor in the possible fact mine is mapped so maybe a wake up call for him in future!
Still i kept the file from my nextbase 420g pro dashcam to view any time!:smile:oh plus 31mpg v 22mpg?

  16. 402g pro i mean!great dashcams and better than later versions fyi as i tried later ones and got a refund with too sensitive touch screen

  17. is it possible to upload a video file of my dashcam here?or would i need to send it to youtube etc?

  18. uploaded it to my youtube account i last used about 5 year ago!ha ha

  19. forward video to 3.15 that`s when the 235i comes past

  20. Do you really think uploading a video to YouTube with a title including "race" is the best idea considering it clearly shows you speeding on a public road in a 50mph zone? Also is that your Reg number embedded at the bottom? Honestly, you're asking for a knock on the door from the police and a driving ban.

  21. Hi Dale1uk
Firstly thank you for your concern and your advice
Albeit you have read my posts incorrectly!

Firstly it was not a 50MPH zone,it`s a motorway that goes into two lanes(national speed limit on dual carriageway=70mph)still applies, then back to 3/4 then 5 lanes!motorway!
Maybe you got confused as i stated quote "where we can go FROM 50mph upwards as that is a safe speed at that part in my eyes even though 70mph is allowed

My dashcam is not showing my speed so how you can say the video clearly shows i`m speeding is debatable?

Maybe it clearly shows me accelerating hard and passing other vehicles that maybe doing 70mph?which in that case could show me speeding but i very much doubt it as we really don`t know what those said vehicles speeds are!

    Thanks again and kind regards

  22. If you recheck the video near the end before the BMW pulled off I'm 99% sure there are 50mph road work signs

I'm all for having a bit of fun and stretching the legs of my cars, but I like my license enough not to shout about it and show the world on the internet. There's been many cases of people being prosecuted due to videos they've uploaded of themselves, no point adding another name to that list

  23.
  24. Hi indeed there are 50mph roadwork signs!but maybe being 46 years old i know that speed limit signs are 200 yards in advance of them coming into play! Also their are average speed cams everywhere on this stretch of motorway and i am yet to get a ticket or lose my licence!

99% sure?where you not 100% sure last night that i was speeding in my video in a 50 mph zone that was clearly 70mph?

It`s on this basis that i will agree to disagree with you and the footage was intented for those with some interest in a rs 250 mapped v 235i that`s prob standard

And the title "race" is not illegal!if you had a "race" with another car from 30-70mph it is just seeing who is the fastest without breaking the speed limit so is no way illegal!

And yes loads of idiots posting "racing" videos on youtube but they are driving at 140mph while filming their speedos!while holding their mobile phones...this i have never done!

Hope this clears up any concerns you have of me potentially losing my licence!

Oh and just to advise you licence has not "S" in it:smile:

  25. i always think it is best to be safe than sorry with this stuff

  26. I think the fact you've removed the video says it all
My original post was intended as a bit if friendly advice, though you seem to be taking it differently.

  27. Yup, keep the videos of public road antics private. People have been prosecuted and you don't just get in trouble for speed.

  28. dale1uk
The video was only going on for 1 day anyway so genuine people can see difference in the race!so please don`t think i removed it because of your advice!let`s say you seem to have too much interest and poor advice for others!

You don`t answer to my questions of your rapid/incorrect comments!?

But hey i think the time has come for me to remove this thread because of people like you who have more time on their hands to
scrutinse this means- (examine or inspect closely and thoroughly)other people`s thread`s!

Not that i am calling you a troll!maybe you just have too much time on your hand`s!and feel the need to comment/try and find fault with members who post here?

I look forward to a post of yours!that does not include words like "dickhead"just quote from one of your posts i seen!

    #keepitreal

  29. Chill out designer. It's a dick move "racing" on public roads and it's a dick move uploading the evidence online. Dale was offering decent advice but you've taken it ultra personally.

  30. Wow, my advice really seems to have touched a nerve. It seems like everyone else have taken my posts as intended, yet for some reason you have taken them as personal insults.

  31. "Racing" on the road with evidence on vid for all to see is not the wisest move

  32. Just upload the videos and set to private so only people you share the link with can see it. That's what I do anyway

  33. What makes me laugh the most here is the people who come on with the "holier than thou" responses....

Let's have it right we all have a bit of a "race" here and there on the road I don't care who you are! You don't buy a performance car and not give it some on AND off track!

But yes just be careful with putting vids online. Other than that keep enjoying your car!

  35. Most men do when behind the wheel...fact.
85% of all car accidents are caused by men,and you can bet with most of those, speed was a major contributing factor.

Most men also take offense if there driving is criticized in any way,but will then take the moral high ground if someone else is seen driving poorly.
You ever see a race driver, ever admit responsibility for a incident?..translates all the way down the scale.

Putting up videos though,is never a good idea...you never know whos watching.

  36. Couldn't agree more....is it really 85% of accidents caused by men? ....surprised at that knowing the Mrs track record. My driving isn't too bad but could be better.learning something all the time.

  37. it was a lead news story on friday.
I think Woman just seem to not be bothered about hitting stuff, and scraping the car at low speeds.

all my missus`s cars start out spotless..but in the end i just give up trying to keep it good.
The lovely, spotless swift sport i bought her has scratches all down both sides ,mirrors, grill stoved in,front bumper knocked out of alignment, and the brand new refurb alloys, she fked in the first week of ownership!..makes me want to cry!

  38. Still.... "one careful lady owner"...

  39. Whenever I sell on the Mrs old cars it takes me ages to polish out and buff up her little skirmishes. Part of me says feckit...let her part ex it in and take the hit...and maybe more care will be taken.
