  1. Absolute headache here, came to start the car after 2 weeks of it standing and was met with the following:
No crank, just a click, dash lights flash on and off, message 'braking system fault' followed by 'steering wheel not locked' as well as a host of beeping and lights.

I'm absolutely gutted and at a loss as the door won't even lock and it's parked on the street

I tried jumping it but nothing 6bab2e5b9350f4ef459e29efe21e1f8f.jpg

  2. As a temporary measure, can you remove the manual key bit from the card and lock the doors?

  3. Tried that, worked for the passenger door but won't lock the drivers side and there's only a cylinder on that side

  4. Sounds like dead battery.

  5. I hope that's the case. Just realised it's all under warranty so have Renault picking it up in an hour so at least it'll be secure

  6. It does sound similar to when my battery went, strange though on a much younger car.

  7. It's pretty high milage for the age, pushing 45k

  8. Mines not hit 50 yet, though I suppose conditions can vary battery life alot. Guess yours is stop/start too?

I've done 110k and 7 years on the original battery lol, soon to be binned for a lightweight one mind you

  10. Yeah stop start but never have it engaged. Called the rac out as it was still under warranty, they managed to jump it fine which is odd

  11. Once it's started and on the alternator a weak battery is enough, it's the big current dump a start needs they give up on first. Sounds like you're just looking at a new battery, make sure they fit a decent or oem one

  12. Do they have a battery monitor thay would need re coding/setting or can I just get a swap out

  13. The car does monitor the battery in some way as I recall getting a low battery warning a while back (though not when it failed funnily) but nothing needs recoding as I did mine on the drive. Twice in fact as the car parts shop sold me the wrong battery first time round -_-

  14. Halfords sell the correct battery for the megane, well for my 250 anyway, its not on there website thou. Mine didnt warn me either, it worked and then after sitting in it for half hour outside maccys wouldnt start. And the little window on the battery had been black for ages before that. Mine had done around 45k miles aswel.

  15. Out of morbid interest OP did you get it fixed?

  16. Yes mate, just a new battery. Car was still under renault care so RAC replaced it and put the account on renaults bill so happy days
