Hi all, I've recently bought an R26 with a KTEC 3" system including the decat. I'm looking at fitting a sports cat to save the hassle at MOT time and obviously save the planet. The off the shelf solutions (KTEC,RST) look ideal but I'm struggling to come to terms with the £500+ costs to buy and fit one. With this in mind I'm debating buying a 3" universal sports cat and getting it welded into the mid pipe similar to KTECs offering. So my question is, has anyone done this or can anyone recommend a decent suitable 3" universal sports cat? Cheers
I don't have a recommendation for a universal one but I just wanted to warn you away from a Cobra Sport one..... The guy who owned my car before me had one fitted and it has already failed having been on just over 2 years.
Thanks for the heads up. Along with the price I'm not too keen on swapping the decat downpipe for one with a sports cat due to the works required. Ideally I'd like to get a version of KTECs 3" sports cat mid pipe made up (this one http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=4409&appid=12) So far I've found this cat: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281658780023 It's Euro 4 spec so suitable for the car, but ideally I would like to hear from people who've used one to see of its ok.
It's pretty much same as other automotive parts you get what pay for. CAT's have some expensive metals in them and would advise getting best can and avoid cheap offerings.
I know that's an option, but I'd rather do it properly if I can find a reasonably priced way of adding a decent sports cat. Yeah I'm aware of that. I want a proper E-marked Euro 4 or Euro 5 spec one, not a cheap one that'll still fail/struggle to pass emissions tests.
