250 Exhaust Trim

  1. I picked up my 250 last Friday. The rear exhaust trim looked black and nasty at the bottom. Seems like it is made out of plastic and it is falling apart.

had a good search. Where can I get a replacement? Ren only?

  2. £120 for a new one from Renault. I'd either get it replated or powder coat it chrome

  3. Or when you're crazy about carbon there's this

  4. Yeah they are plastic, they seem to crack or peel after a while, mine was not too bad, so i sanded it down and resprayed it

  5. If you buy this, don't for one moment believe Streamline when they say "Clips into position" as the clips on it are most definitely only there for decoration, and don't stand a chance of retaining the part. It has to be bonded into place.

Other than that, and the expectancy that like most of their parts the lacquer may come off, it's a good item.

I put their badges on as one of the first mods I done to mine 5 years ago, ain't coming off as they need bonded on but the laquer departed a few months later, doesn't look too bad now as it'd all disappeared but they could do with a fresh coat done properly, if I can't be arsed LOL.

  7. mines done the same, not got round to taking it off and spraying it chrome again yet. Seems a common problem

  8. Ouch not paying either of those. Will remove and refurb I think. Its not the end of the world. At first I thought it was just dirty from the exhaust. Cheers guys.

  9. Some chrome polish and some fine grade wire wool cleans them up usually (needs the wool as a cloth doesn't cut it), although if it's been left so long the acids in the soot/road dirt have eaten the chrome away you're buggered.

As someone who used to own a Harley chrome is Satan's finish, hate the stuff :d

  10. Pretty sure it has eaten away and blackened. If I pull it, it is going to strip right off. I guess remove, strip and spray is the way forward.

  11. Mine was the same mate. But try autosol before spending 100 notes on a new 1. Mine came up spanking clean

  12. I painted mine. Black satin and clear lacquer. Took 5 mins plus drying time.

  13. I think the lacquer has come off. Might try stripping it back. Autosol and see what happens. If not then spray job. Would prefer the Chrome look. But Satin black might be a good shout.
