Check injection esp/asr fault

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Freddy8394, Aug 26, 2017.

  1. Hello new to owning a Renault Megane 225 sport.
Lovely car to drive and nice amount of power but...

    Having issues now
It will drive and boost like normal then out of the blue into limp mode and "check injection"
And esp/asr fault with traction control light on.
Turn it off and back on its fine for ten miles ish.

    I would appreciate any help/advice

    Thanks Fred

    Hi and welcome
"Check injection" could be a lot of things, worth changing plugs, coils and may even be blocked injectors.
Esp/asr could be an abs sensor or ring, mine did this as the tracking was out, steering wheel not straight, either way would be best to get it plugged into "Clip" to be absolutely sure.

  3. Hello
I'm actually in the process as we speak fitting new plugs I've also added injector cleaner aswell earlier today.

Tracking may be a possibility as drivers side tyre squeals around any right hand corner and out edge of tyre is wearing funny.

I've only owned it a week!

I'm used to rwd nissans And 4x4s haha

  4. It's well worth getting an obd reader for this kind fault at least to pin down the affected cylinder. Could for example be n75 valve which limits boost pressure and the car thinks the traction control is faulty.

  5. When I first got it, it had a boost issue but that's seems to of sorted itself.

It came up with cylinder 3 misfire detected but there's isn't a missfire.

Another one said missfire due to low fuel but over half a tank so could be injector issue.

Other one was boost pressure sensor fault.

    So got a few possibilities

Thanks for the replies anymore help is much appreciated

  6. Get it on a CLiP with a specialist if you can. I had an similar set of faults on my 225 that turned out to be a failing ignition coil pack. Apparently the same bus lines in the ecu are used for different faults, and can get "confused" at times
Also if the ecu sees a fault and acts on it by shutting down or throttling back a component it still throws up the error code for what it did which is not that helpfully

  7. I have the same problem. I have a complete 225 engine with gearbox mounted on Megane II estate. I replaced the plugs with NGK ones and I renounced at the coils and replaced them with a ignition coil. The only thing to check are the injectors. The engine starts ok from first key, it accelerate good to 7000 rpm, no misfire. Sometimes it does that, ESP/ASR fault and check injection appears and has a misfire. Turn it off and back on, it's fine. I have a Forge blanking plate on the turbo and Forge bov. Thanks in advance.

PS : so I won't start another thread, what are the dimensions of this piece : interior diameter turbo - intercooler pipe (standard ones) and length. Thanks.

  8. Best getting it plugged in, could be guessing at anything on the injection loom really.

I've had them with dodgey air-con pressure sensors throwing up the Check Injection and ESP/ASR light.

  9. Thanks for the replays plugged it in deleted the codes and been spot on since

  10. How did u manage to fix the issue ? Im intrigued?

  11. In all honesty so am I haha.

    It had 16 fault codes!!
Some from previous issues and some present.
Basically I put it down to a Renault moment as happened after battery was removed etc and upset the Ecu.
To be honest I think the throttle pedal sensor was messing around aswell as that fault code did pop up a few times.

I'm waiting for it to do it again then I'll plug it straight in and hopefully have an idea.

Sorry can't be much help as I've got fingers crossed

  12. On a Megane 225 engine from four injectors one has a blue line and the other three have a red/orange line. What's the difference ? Thanks.

Blue ones are the newer style red/brown ones are the older more likely original ones. Any new ones bought are blue.

  14. The fact that I change the spark plugs with NGK PFR7Z - TG could provoke misfire to cyl 1 and 4 ?

  15. No, those plugs are the correct ones. If you get random misfires check the top plug kn the ecu, clean it, lubricate it, put it on-off multiple times to clean the pins.

Had this problem before, random misfires, replaced everything but this solved it

  16. PFR7Z - TG as above is correct plug for meggy. Try the above and see how u get on and let us know .

Out of interest has ure car had a dump valve fitted/the bit of boost hose after inlet changed/altered ?

  17. @tutuur : I've put out all three plugs of the ecu, lubricate them, clean it, clean the throtle body - not much dirt there - had so much hope to solve my problem, same thing. :-((
next step i will change fuel, 99 or 100 ron.
@Mikey4410 : when i fitted the engine, the dump valve was already there.

  19. Today i ran out of throtle. It seems that i have restricted flow curent through cyl 1 and 4. No spark at all ! I'll have to check the wiring.
