ok can you point me in the direction regarding what's needed pls. I have seen the ktec one advertised...panel filters ....airbox mods but not sure which is best. My 172 made a great noise and had an induction kit but this r26 is very quiet from the front
theres a couple of types, people use a 90 degree elbow on the standard turbo hose, or you can make one which comes down under the headlight or DSC_3548 by matt eaton, on Flickr
Ok consulted with the boss to see if I could spend a couple of evenings dicking about in the garage making an induction kit for the meg. She said no and to go and buy one There we have it
Alas she had them removed some time ago...i think she thought it would have the same effect as on a dog!
ordered one today from Ktec and also one of the silicone hoses and clips....looking forward to more noise and I wondered if it will sound a bit more like the clio did (that had an induction kit) or if it makes a different noise?
I have one..and no..you get no roaring induction noise. what you do get is a sucking noise at lower revs, and a noise like a dump valve when you come off the power. Hell of a lot of money for what you get(just a cone, small aluminum bend and a metal heat shield). But it defiantly helps gives more power towards the red line..no matter what anyone says. Dont be alarmed at first, because the car will feel as flat as a pancake at lower revs...but the ECU will re-learn parameters with the increased airflow in time to give you a more responsive rev range. The noise it makes is very pleasing on the ears.without being boomy in the cabin. A nice,if expensive, addition.
Thanks for the info....i will be interested to see what it sounds like...whats your take on dump valves?
Iv got the ktec induction kit and a forge dump valve the low revs suction and the loud dump together sound awesome!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I shall keep my ears open for one with a dump valve. My only concern is the car is primarily for track use and not sure if a dump valve is a benefit or a hinderence
dump to atmosphere valves are just noise makers..stay with the original recirc valve. As you come of the power with the ktec, the noise is identical to a dump valve anyhow.
Theres no way its worth £240..god only knows how they arrive at that figure. But it seems to do the job of freeing a bit more from the engine, and a decent noise without being to silly. not sure if that silicone pipe will fit with the kit.? on mine ,the original hose was cut right down to locate the cone in the top corner.
Apparently the hose replaces the airbox hose and may need a few mm trimming off. Nice metalwork though
It does amaze me how much KTR sell these things for. Seems a bit of a cheek to me. On my Clio 172, you could make something very similar to their kit for about £40. I'm sure it must be possible to do something similar for the Megane.
stupid photobucket needs to confirm my old email address that isnt valid anymore..god knows how you change it1
I know a lot of people either change back to recirc or don't put an atmospheric dv on but I do love the sound! Especially the forge! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As @andrewjeffs has said. The kit does make some lovely noises! Really happy with mine, although getting the KTR intake hose onto the elbow was a nightmare, and needed a fair bit of persuasion! Regardless to whether it has any performance gain or not, it really adds some character to an other wise boring engine note!
So all fitted...went for a spin with expectations of a roar and a growl.......i got a slurping noise and now the car sneezes when I change gear. Not what I had in mind but a fun noise.

Nooooo, they chatter, much cooler! I think I'll be fitting a blanking plate to my 265, seems to give the best noise. After all, that's all that matters, right?
shouldnt be yet..it should be feeling very lethargic at low revs because the ecu hasnt `relearned` the new parameters. take mine a good few days before it sorted itself out,but after that its all good. Mine has been tuned to 270 hp though,so maybe that makes a difference to what it feels like with the ktec kit at the start?
