Reversing camera for 225 / R26??

  1. Has anyone fitted one?
I have an android double din with the capability to run a camera but want to see some examples before I start buying stuff!

  2. My R26 has a double din stereo with camera option so I fitted one of these:

    fits under the boot lip.

Routed the cable from the camera around the boot lid and through the flexible tube containing the rest of the boot wiring. As the cable has the connector on it, it was a bit tricky getting it through the tube. Got it half way and then sliced the tube, fed the connector/wire and superglued the rubber tube back together. Also a bit tricky getting the wire through a grommet in the boot to wire it around the edge of the rear window frame. Had the use a skewer to feed a string and then pulled the camera cable through. Wired mine to an earth on the rear and to the reversing light wiring so it only comes on when in reverse rather than having it on all the time and selectable on the screen. Did think about angling the camera so it points less down as part of the screen shows the lower boot lip but it's OK.

  3. That's great, thank you for posting your detailed response.

  4. I fitted this one - absolutely tiny.

You can see the lip of the boot which makes it easy.

Title was "170° High-Definition Cam Reversing Car Front Rear View Parking Backup CCD Camera" and it was £9.49. Can't find it on eBay now though.

EDIT - Trick to getting wiring through the grommets is to coat everything in WD40 or similar first and to spray it into the grommet.

  5. Do they not get dirty quickly?

  6. I can't believe you can buy one for a tenner. God electronics are getting cheap these days. Nice little mod for not a lot of money if you have a screen with the capability.

  7. Looks like you get a tiny bit better angle with that camera as I see a bit thicker boot lip as my camera angles downhill a little more. Good tip about the WD40 - realised that when it was halfway through the grommet and a bit stuck.
Definitely worth the time/effort for the little cost involved.
