Pioneer TSQ131C custom fit speakers for MK3

  1. Has anyone fitted these, it's says they are designed to replace the pre-installed speakers.

Therefore do the tweeters not need a separate crossover/resistor thingymy like you would use with normal separates??

If not then they look easy to fit and reasonably inexpensive.

Did you need an adapter ring for the main door speakers?

    Thanks!

  2. Not in a Megane, but I did in a ph1 172 Clio.

Massive improvement and no, didn't need separate crossovers.

No adapter rings needed but this won't be relevant as it was a 2001 Clio like I say. Had to remove the dash to fit the tweeters though!

  3. They only fit clio mk2/3, megane mk2, megane mk3 are dacia connectors on the speakers.

  4. The tweeters fit witha small modification.x

  5. Thanks all, do they have resistors then built into the tweeters?

  6. Yes they do.

  7. Thanks mate, much appreciated.

  8. Hi Ryan, it says they are plug & play for the MK3, what Dacia connector do you mean please and for which of the speakers?

  9. The tweeters are basically the same, apart from a line of plastic down the plug on the loom, making it a tight fit, but you can shave the plastic off with a stanley, and then it will clip in no problem, also abit tight in the hole inside the dash, i had to cut the hole out abit bigger towards the side, so it would sit flush and get the grill back on. As for the door speakers, the megane mk3 door speaker plug front and rear are different from the previous versions that kit fits. (I orignally bought the kit for my clio mk3, which i stripped out before getting rid)Been told the plugs on the megane 3 are from dacia duster and alike. Ive bought some dacia plug to spade adapters, and bought me a clio door loom to make some adapters up, lucky the speakers ive got for the rear are universal, so just need the dacia to spade adapters.

  10. Thanks Ryan. All seems fairly simple to do, the annoying thing then is that the speakers aren’t actually custom-fit – they’re just normal 13cm speakers but which come with a Renault-to-spade adapter. Surely I/we could just buy any old 13cm speaker and crimp some speaker spades onto the existing wires….

  11. I spoke with Pioneer themselves and according to them the tweeters have separate in-line crossovers which are included with the set but the door speakers have "internal" crossovers built-in. Plus apparently they are plug & play with my 2011 Megane and I wont need any different or additional connectors or speaker rings.

So I've ordered a set, along with some speakers for the rear and some sound-deadening tiles which I may as well fit at the same time.

Will let you know how it all goes and at the end of the day if it does turn out that I need to buy any adapters or speaker rings I can always pop down to Halfords....

  12. Can I ask how much this is costing you? And if you're fitting an amplifier?

  13. No the rears arent the custom fit speakers, the fronts i bought are custom, the rears i bought were universal, which i bought wiring adapters for ie (renault-spade) and now dacia-spade. You could do that, but i dont like cutting up the loom, rather make it plug n play.

  14. Well ive got thous speakers, they didnt come with rings, rings are required, and the connections on the door speakers are different from the megane mk3. Dont think pioneer know this, has a few places ive looked dont list the mk3.

  15. For ease I just bought it all from Amazon as I have Prime free delivery and can get them next day, the TS-Q131C's cost £69.99 which seemed to be the same everywhere (or more) and I went for Pioneer TS-1302I in the rears which are supposedly plug & play and they cost £39.31 (found these cheaper elsewhere but it was just easier buying them at the same time and with free postage).

I'm not fitting an amplifier, will just run these off the standard head-unit for the time being, and then if needed just upgrade the head-unit.

  16. Ok, thanks Ryan. I can easily get rings and connectors delivered next day if needed, or if they have them pop to Halfords....

  17. On the basis I don’t need customer speakers as such for the rear (as I will likely have to buy a Renault/Dacia connector anyway) I thought I may as well cancel the order for the TS-1302I’s and have ordered some ‘normal’ TS-E1302I’s which are 180W (which matches the fronts) rather than 130W. They were only a few quid more and that bit more powerful for when/if I ever fit a more powerful head-unit, or there is a great guide on here for a plug & play amp where you keep the standard head-unit and all its functions – which I quite like the idea of, although a new head-unit would be DAB…..

  18. I’ve partially fitted all the speakers – the tweeters are plug & play but as already mentioned in the thread the hole in the inner-dashboard needs to be made a bit larger and the speaker wire plug needs shaving, neither were hard jobs to do.

The main door speakers have the same ‘socket’ as the tweeters therefore the car’s speaker wire plugs won’t fit. Someone mentioned buying an adapter cable but I have spare tweeter speaker wires with plugs in the rear (where presumably some models have tweeters) therefore I will cut these off and use these.

The door speakers do need spacer rings and because the original speakers were held on in three places I’ve ordered Megane specific spacer rings (rather than buying generic spacers and then having to drill holes in the door) which I can then pop-rivet in place. Not in itself a major hassle, but the door speakers are definitely not plug & play!

The rear speakers will need Megane specific spacer rings as well and because I bought generic speakers they have spade terminals, but luckily they came with a set of spades connected to a length of speaker wire so I can cut and join these to the car’s speaker wires.

So all fairly easy jobs to do but time-consuming…..
