Headlight and rear light tints

  1. Morning guys. Sure this has been covered a thousand times, but just wondering if anyone in the NE or surrounding areas has there lights tinted. If so where did you get them done. 1 last thing, would a window tinting company be able to do this or is it a total different job.

  2. You might want to think about doing them yourself with Fly eye tint which is still legal for the MOT just don't buy from ebay as the stuff is rubbish, look on http://www.flyeyeskit.co.uk/ less than £40 to do front and rear with varying shades. lots of videos online as to how easy it is to apply and completely removable.

  3. As above, fronts will be illegal and the rears will as well depending on how you are going to tint them

  4. Yeah seen these kits but not sure about the mesh look up close. Im only after a slight tint not totally smoked, is there a maximum limit on tint like there is on windows?

  5. Looks like anything on the front is frowned upon, and nothing above 50% on the rear

  6. Products on the lens or light source that obviously reduce the light's intensity or change its colour will become a reason for failure – applies to front/rear position lamps, registration plate lamps, stop lamps, rear fog and direction indicators,

so pretty much it's going to be down to the tester but most tints regardless of colour will fail.

  7. inoperative or less than 50% of the light sources illuminating d. obscured so that less than 50% of the lamp illuminating surface is visible from the front or rear as appropriate e. not visible from a reasonable distance due to excessive damage, deterioration, or having products on the lens or light source f. shows light of an incorrect colour Cont’d Cont’d C
