Hi guys, the only things not mint on my car are the wheels (19'' steev), not curbed but milking and dirt under the lacquer, light scratch on it 2 years ago, and now it is filled in with dirst mark ... so anyway, I am planing a refurbishment, I thing I will go for matt black, as I am affraid to face the same problems 6 months later, am I right ? I mean I would prefer the diamond cut, but they just never last ..
I had the exact same issue and went gloss black, i'm a big fan of diamond cut but most places who can do the work to repair won't guarantee the work and at twice the price, i do love it now though.
Not sure it would be as quick as 6 months if done properly but even my local place who are very good can't guarantee that the lacquer on the diamond cut bit won't suffer at some point, quicker than then rest of the wheel. Personally that's why I wouldn't get diamond cut.
Probably last more than 6 months, probably a couple years, well mine did anyway. For me its the price of geting them done everytime you kerb them, and it does happen, where as a single colour is cheap as chips.
Have another think about Matt black. Just doesn't look class. Satin black (or Gloss) with a good lacquer works.
My Golf R came with diamond cut wheels from the factory. When it went back after a year, the lacquer was starting to lift on one wheel. I think using that finish on production cars is pretty daft. It just doesn't last. I'm not a fan of the Steev wheels to be honest, but mine has them in gloss black with the red lip and they look ok. I much prefer it to the diamond cut finish. I do think it depends on the colour though. There is an OG 265 local to me with the black/red Steevs and I don't think they really suit it.
Had matt black team dynamics ProRace 2 on my blue Westfield. Looked ace IMO. Miss the 5 spoke design.
