R26.R, no.52

Discussion in 'Megane Projects' started by Liver, Oct 4, 2013.

  1. Good luck. Car looks ace

  2. Sailed through with no advisories

  3. The bonnet was really starting to bug me on this so recently go back in touch with Renault Uk about the matter.

After an initial phone call and call at my local Renault Bodyshop all was sorted

    fresh carbon

Hope you don't mind me asking but was it sorted FOC? My bonnet is a little tired but not sure where I stand as it wasn't bought with a whole R so to speak.

  5. youve got more chance platting fog mate, I've got no hope as not got FRSH and mines an R

  6. I was offered a 60 % contribution towards the cost but with what they wanted to charge it didn't make much difference by doing it myself and selling on the old bonnet. Wasnt happy that I would have had to leave the car with a garage I didn't know either as they sub out their body shop stuff.

  7. Would there be a market for fibreglass bonnets for R26?.

  8. You won't get anything from Renault I wouldn't have thought. I just had a Renault Uk contribution.

Full service history is a massive thing for Renault to give you anything

I got a 50% contribution and have kept my old bonnet. The bodyshop I knew the manager and the lad working on it, they looked after it. I can see why you wouldn't want it just going to anybody as I wouldn't. How much did the bonnet end up costing you if you don't mind me asking.

There are already fibreglass bonnets, fibreglass and carbon bonnets and full carbon bonnets on the market for the R26's away from Renault

  9. The car due to recently purchasing my first house has taken a back seat. It hasn't been washed in months let alone driven. This needed changing.

I managed to get a couple of days off work and get the cars new home sorted. I gave the garage a refresh along with the car

    how the garage was emptied

Also got the gold heat reflective sheet back onto the new bonnet.

Jobs to do in the following weeks:

replace the small bumper sticker from the bonnet sticker set
remove the front bumper and properly re-align it, it seems to have moved slightly
    a full detail
take it out and enjoy it

    cheers

Haha he'll probably take then down when he's on the next EDL march lol.

  13. Cars looking good mate. I didn't bother with that gold heat protection on my new one. Doesn't work. I bought this, bonnet doesn't seem to get nowhere near as hot.

  14. Will have a look into that

    cheers

  15. unfortunatley i don't think there is an effectively solution for the bonnet,

i got a heat blanket around the turbo and stuff stuck to my bonnet and its still gone milky and that is the 2nd oem bonnet, ( changed under warranty before i brought).

  16. Lovely R26R you have there mate, they look epic in that colour!

  17. Anbody tried fitting a R26 engine cover that might help with the heat it has a metal heatshield just above the turbo

  18. Stunning car ! love the colour bud. There's one for sale at KTR I keep looking at very tempted but out of my price range for now

  19. Dont worry they will come down. Nobody is buying them at those prices.

  20. I agree, I don't think there is a solution

    Cheers

I've seen a few people with this and sometimes do think about it but never acted on it

    They really are brilliant cars

Still holding strong at the minute
