  1. Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark....!!!!!!!

On the basis that you have the exact same headlights as me (because you gave me the part numbers) then you also have LHD headlights!!!

I failed an MOT today because of it, luckily I still have my originals otherwise I'd be fcuked......

It sailed through other than the headlights therefore will swap them over and take it back on Saturday.

  3. I had the same issue stripped my old lights sprayed them black and refit them. I was lucky I didn't fail the mot but got mentioned that they were set up all wrong I pleaded ignorance and said I would get it done immediately. Wondered why everyone was flashing me put it down the piaa 4K headlight bulbs. Ah well £200 down the drain

  4. Oh my word...really?! guys I'm so sorry! I bloody told them it was for a RHD car and shipped to the UK :worried: Ok so I'll be getting that sorted then. That'll teach me to suggest anything to anyone!

  5. No worries one of those things however it was a complete nightmare getting the mastic out of the oem lights cut my hands to pieces pleased with my handy work though

  6. …..Is it possible to 'Unlike' a post?, if not I want a new button introduced!

No worries mate, these things happen and it’s as much my and Jon's fault for not checking. As you know I've never been impressed with the quality so am happy just putting the originals back in and when/if I can be arsed will split them and paint them black.

On a separate note can you please do me a really big favour – I’ve ordered a new RS badge for the rear, I can’t see where the old badge was as the paint polished up perfectly, could you please take a quick photo and also if possible some exact measurements where the new badge should go. E.g. 50mm in from the bottom left corner of the light and 30mm up, or similar. I can then measure out where the new badge should go. Have also ordered new CUP badges which will be easy to fit as I can see where the old ones were and am going to refit the RS front badge and remove the black diamond covers. I may even go the whole hog and order a new chrome tailpipe trim… I will categorically not fit new MEGANE letters though!!

  7. Hi Jon. I know there are guides on how to do this, but was it actually THAT easy to do? Did you have to remove all the old mastic?

It’s something I’d like to do, but now that the OEM lights are my only lights it’s a big gamble to take, whereas before when I had the EBay lights in I was going to give it a go on my spare OEM lights and if it didn’t work out then no problem.

  8. Splitting them wasn't easy but managed ok. Taking the light apart for paint was two screws dead straight forward. I might be classed as slightly anal about finish so rather than have a poor fit and moisture in the lights I dug out the mastic with a small Stanley knife and screwdriver. Took a couple of hours so whilst the light inserts dried I did the digging out took about 2:30 hours to complete looks perfect exactly like the ones from Europe.

Also I had already looked st the ones from abroad and was going to buy them anyway. Weren't to know they were not legal.

If there is a chemical that can strip mastic and not damage the lights find out what it is and use it. I had to clean the blood off the lights before I put them back together!

  9. Thanks Jon. I’m happy to spend a bit of time doing it and likewise would want to do an anal job. Mrs W and boys are going away on their own for a week in July so I could spend a few evenings by myself in peace doing it then.

The lights are made of some sort of plastic (I think) therefore probably whatever would dissolve the mastic would start attacking the lights.

What did you use to re-seal them with please?

  10. Went to Halfords and got a tube of window/windscreen mastic just need one of those decorating tools to get the mastic out dead straight forward. There is a channel around the light just half filled it with mastic and hardly any oozed out so that mighr work as well.

  11. Great, thanks Jon

  12. Evening Mark 1!

I will get you a photo and measurements hopefully tomorrow now, been away for a week and not back yet. I messaged the seller on Ebay regarding the lights and told them to make sure they advertise them correctly in future...oh well. I found another UK seller of the black lights and they've assured me they're for RHD cars so I'll order them as I sold my stock ones!

On another note, I now know the value of the Recaro seats...they sold on Ebay for £1450. That'll go towards some tyres and the KW Clubsports!

  13. Morning Mark 2

Coincidentally I fitted my new rear RS badge yesterday; hopefully it’s in the correct position but out of interest would appreciate your measurements if you get the chance please.

My stock lights are back on and the car therefore sailing through its MOT. It’s also got its front RS badge back on along with some new CUP badges and a new chrome exhaust trim hopefully arriving today.

So apart from the MEGANE badges which I won’t be replacing its back to standard, which I actually quite like.

£1,450!! Well done you, that’s an amazing price based on the price you presumably paid for the car.

  14. It's interesting you have decided to revert on the blackness, I love mine being mostly black! I'm about to buy some Speedline Turini wheels in anthracite while I get the Gramlights re-coloured. I've ordered some Safety Devices 4 point harnesses in silver to contrast with the black interior and hopefully Nigelo on here has shipped my DRL blanks now

  15. Hey man, have they not arrived yet? They've been sent off over a week now, by 1st class.....:fearful:

  16. I think if I was turning it into a track car, as you are doing, then the blacker/meaner the better. But I’m not and it just sits outside our nice house in a nice cul-de-sac in a nice village looking very much out of place. Putting it almost back to standard just makes it look that little bit less conspicuous.

What’s the idea behind the DRL blanks, surely not weight

  17. I'd been away Nigel, arrived all good and now fitted and looking black

  18. Admit it...your aggressive car was adversely affecting visitor numbers to Mark 1 Gallery. You don't need to lie about caring what your neighbours think

The drl delete was weight (marginal but every little helps!) And I prefer the cleaner look of more black!

  20. Ha ha, fantastic, I just laughed out loud! Whatever happened regarding your re-re-map? Are you ever coming up to Engine Dynamics and can therefore pop by Williams Hall to see for yourself?

Every gram (no, not that type!) helps I guess. I’d probably just try to go for a big poo beforehand.

I presume the Meganes have passenger airbags (?), if so now that you’ve fitted buckets that would be an easy win. Likewise the air-con, plus removing this will free up a smidging of power.

  21. K-Tec are having a crack at it weekend after next when the car goes in for the CAE! I also bought some Maretti Morelli (spelling) lights earlier to replace the wanky LHD Depo ones...doh. Other than that it's fit suspension and do something about wheels! Yes I'm now debating whether to run one set of wheels on track rubber for all driving and if that set of wheels should be Ultraleggerra (spelling again).

Great shout on the airbag delete, it's something I would do BUT I don't fancy the giant pita which is removing the dash top to get to it followed by refitting a very rattly dash! I don't think there's much more I can do to save weight so adding having a big poo the morning I go racing is definitely on my pre-flight check list

  22. Ok, fingers crossed with it all.

Power quote for the day: Porsche Macan Turbo Performance Package, 434bhp, 443lbft. Now that’s a twin-turbo 3.6 V6 Porsche engine, not a single-turbo 2.0 straight-4 Renault engine. 440lbft is tooooooomuch!!!

Apart from cost there is no reason not to run two sets of wheels & tyres, it takes 15 minutes to swap a set of wheels over, if that, especially now you’ve the studs, I think you would regret selling your ‘road’ wheels.

It will be a fun project and I’m betting will turn out to be easier than you thought. If you’re getting really serious then removing all the door panels and replacing with carbon-sheets and also all the tar sound-deadening.

  23. Little update on the car...

  24. Lot has changed since I saw that last time!
    Looks a bit familiar!
We need to go for a drive as long as the weather is still good!

  25. We do indeed Clint  I'm keen to see what you're up to aswell. I have 3 or 4 things to do still but then it's just bits and pieces to keep myself occupied.

  26. Someone has been busy lol :tongueout:, looking good

  28. Hoping you mean brave as in 'taking an angle grinder to your bonnet' brave  I've meshed them up and fitted them for the turbo and air intake and the under bonnet temps are definitely lower, you can really feel the heat coming out. Added bonus is noise, you can hear the intake more now

And the interior as well, the matching wheel and seats compliment each other.

  30. How do you find the new shifter?

  33. A few updates...car went to Rstuning on Friday and spent 10 hours there! The result was 352hp and 360lbft and the car is tranformed. The KTec map was apparently horrific in every way :worried: knocking, timing, fueling, boost...all words used with a shaking head.

    Onwards and upwards!
