R26 gear selector bush

  1. hi everyone hopefully somebody can help,

Tonight I took the r26 due to the nice weather and just as I got to a friends house I went to put into 1st and had nothing, straight away I thought the gearbox had gone as it let me select 2nd,

Luckily the friend I was picking up is a mechanic, straight away he opened the bonnet and spotted the issue

The bush that holds the gear cable onto the actual gear shifter meaning the gear selector cable end was completely hanging off the shifter itself

We have managed to hold it on using a few rubber o ring pressed on and cable tied on top,

Does anybody know a permanent solution or where to buy the bush from ?

  2. always happens when people lever of the clip, instead of pushing the `jaws` in from either side to remove.
This then snaps the jaws, and the clip is just sat there without anything to keep it in place.

Usually done when people put a shortshift on.

only fix is new cable,i am afraid.

  3. Thanks for replying, you don't by any chance know the part number or cost of the new cable do you ?,

Was i reading that you still make the short shifts ?

  4. i dont mate sorry.
And we stopped the shortshifts a long while back..idiots wouldnt return there originals on exchange to keep it all going.

Have you had the car long?,,normally the only reason people piss about with the linkage is either a stiff actuator,or fitting a shortshift..you might already have one.

  5. Ah okay, don't fancy making one more do you ,

Around 8 months, but it's not got a short shift or anything st the moment I've had one previously but not one on this

  6. we have new equipment now,so the jig made up to hold the linkage for machining is obsolete.
Boardy on here was doing them..not sure if he still is??
