This is such a great colour and fine example! Must admit, as soon as I pick up my OG 250 the first mod will be the black headlights, makes it look so much more aggressive! Can't wait to see what the future has in store for this...
Great read buddy! Purple haze is really nice to work with isn't it. A lot of people dont like it bur once built up it performs very well indeed
Hi guys, Sorry i haven't been very active of late, i spent pretty much the most of 2016 out of the country travelling so i had Meg garaged for the duration, however, i got back a week or so ago and have some big plans for her this year! Updates will flow as i get things done. Hope you're all well!!!
Quick Update; Just purchased some Team Dynamics 1.3s which should turn up soon so when theyre on ill get some pictures up also bought some Team Heko Wind Deflectors which should turn up this week and i have a Cobra Decat on back order and im ready to order some Cooksports, once its all on and done ill get some pictures up. Ive been trying some new sealant and wax mixes which include Poorboys new black wax, results are awesome so i need to get some picture up of that to. Unfortunately not long after getting back from travelling someone drove into the side of me in Sainsburys and drove off before i came out.. so ive had to get that sorted out so i promise updates/pictures etc are coming! Bare with me you beautiful people!!
Okay as promised, a few updates: Thanks to Matts OG 250, i really liked the look of the TD 1.3s so i decided to get myself a set from Demon Tweeks, managed to get them quite cheap as they have a sale on now and i found an extra 10% off code for them, extremely happy with them, they look fantastic! As you can see there is a heft gap between the arch and tyre so i'm contemplating on which springs to get, looking for a 25mm drop but ive been leaning towards the Cooksport route more than the others, had them on my Clio 182 and had no issues then. Ive also been getting her coat up again for the summer and i have been using layers of AF Tough Coat, Dodo Juice Purple Haze and Poorboys Black Wax. I have to say, the Black wax is something else, amazing soft wax, easy on and super easy off even in sunlight. I Have Also stuck some Team Heko wind deflectors on her, they don't look out of place and really easy to fit. Here's a few remaining pictures from Saturday, apologies about image quality, my phone camera is on its last legs and by the time i had finished everything it was late etc etc..
Looking at either the KtR Torque Link or the Vibra Technics one.. is anyone running these? Which one is more favorable?
Update: So at the end of last week i had some new goodies turn up.. some replacements, some new products/accessories ive been wanting to try ect. First off, Auto Finesse delivered these in rapid time.. Happy happy! And a then a few things from CleanYourCar showed up; Ive been wanting to try this out for a while, theres a good write up and a code for 20% off (Matt20)
Also ordered and had these delivered, i had a set of them on the Clio 182 and they were fantastic wet, dry, stopping, noise.. amazing for their price!
Now the big write up.. after all the new products turned up and Cars in the Park next Sunday i thought it would be apt to get a good correction done before i really waxed her up before going down to Ripon. (Service products and tyres are getting done on Thursday, that's why she still has the older tyres on the following! Just want to give a shout out to Andy scoobyr , iv'e followed his blogs for quite some time now and they're basically the reason i got massively into detailing! If anybody is just getting into it, i definitely recommend reading up on his posts! So.. the clean, enjoy the read, i know its picture heavy! First off, SnowFoam using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss, amazing stuff! Used Auto Finesse Hog Hair brushes to agitate the foam around the car and wheels.. Then Rinsed ready for a 2 bucket method using Migures Microfiber Wash Mit, grit guard and Chem Guys Wash and Gloss again. Agitated with a Hog Hair again and left to dwell for a couple of minutes before rinsing,
Next on to the wheels, theyre new alloys so theyre in pretty decent shape but still.. clean clean.. all rinsed and dried ready for correction products.. I haven't done any correction since the "winter" months so i though i would give her the once as a treat Sprayed down with CarPro IronX, best one ive found and the smell is amazing Paint was in decent condition to be fair, not to much bleeding at all!! Impressed.. Never the less, it did its job... Rinsed and dryed rreadyfor tar removal.. (Now i,m in talks with clean you car as they messed things up a bit with my order and sent me this, which is a poor replacement for what i ordered, it did the job but it took more effort than needed and the bottle broke after to panels) Snow Foamed again, rinsed and dried to clear all the oil ect from previous products...
So.. after all that, she was dried again ready for the clay bar.. as i said the paints in decent condition but i wanted to make sure it was spot on! Im using Chemical Guys OG Clay Bar. Left Side of the car Rear As i said.. not bad at all! After Claying and drying.. Went on to the tyres after that.. would have been nice to have the new shoes on but hey ho.. Agitated with a brush..
Now i want to get into machine polishing.. im looking at different machines/polishes ect but its a big market.. My friend had let me borrrow his Maguires DA. This was my FIRST time using a machine, and i dont have a lot of time so i did all the blacks, front, wing mirrors ect and a few spots that had scratches.. watch this space for machione polishing though as it was fantastic to use!!! Couldnt believe the results.. After the black parts, i used it to apply a coat of Poorboys Black Hole.. After which i sealed the wheels using Finish Kare 1000p Hi-Temp Sealant ( I love this stuff ) After that i added a layer of Auto Finesse Tough (Which i believe is now dulling the shine on this paint.. so im going to try something else) and a coat of PoorBoys Black Wax, this over the Black Hole Glaze mentioned earlier is meant to be amazing be as i said, i believe the Tough Coat is hindering this.. Added a layer of mint rims, didnt follow instructions.. left to cure... oops DO NOT LEAVE TO CURE ha!! Added a clear coat to the wheels.. for anybody curious.. this stuff last forever and comes with the tyre cleaner i used earlier and applicator and leaves the tyres looking natural, the more coats however, the more shine. I Prefer one coat however! And that was it.. By the time i finished and packed away it was late and the lighting wasnt great to get any good reflective shots but her paint is smooth ready for a wax day on saturday #Nofilters haha
I have service equipment ready to be delivered, and once that and the tyres are on and ive done the clean on Saturday ill have another update! No doubt there will be pictures from Cars in the Park on the 7th to get up too!! Hope you're all well!!
That's a deep clean, looks very good. Where did you get your hankooks and how much? I've used them before and highly rate them. Lowering next?
Haha you got it.. however I've been asking people if they have added new shocks when they lower with springs. I got them off camskill.. always used them for my tyres, fantastic service and and they're prices are extremely competitive. They're awesome tyres like..!! Thanks buddy!
Some decent graft has gone into that and a lot of similar products to what I use and recommend! Just dont have the time to do mine anymore, so tempted to pay someone lol
Update: I had these turn up from Opie Oils last week, along with the tyres arriving, i had her booked in on Thursday to have the service and tyres fitted. Main Road Garage for anyone in the Durham area, absolutely fantastic garage, clean, well present and they guys were friendly and extremely professional.
Update: So this is a little delayed as ive been busy since getting back from SCitP. Basically, after the paint correction i did last weekend this was more working on everything else, engine, interior, boot, the little details and of course, sort her coat out for the weekend. Before everything, where i have to clean the car is quite a dusty farm so hence the tar polling in the back ground. Unfortunately ive never been blessed with a garage or really secure area to detail, and where i live is an apartment block, no outside tap!! After i initally rinsed her down i started on the engine.. AF Hog Hair brush and AF Verso at a 6:1 ratio sorted that out. I then followed up with AF Metal Polish and then a coat of AF Drezzle Engine wasn't in bad condition to begin with as i try and keep on top of it but this was the result
Next up, good old SnowFoam using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss Agitated with a hog hair brush for all those lovely hard to get areas.. Left to dwell then rinsed off and on to a 2 bucket method wash.. Cleaned the door jams with AF Verso Rinsed and dried Moved onto the wheels with the following..
Exhaust/Exhaust trim; Unfortunately the trim for the exhaust is pitted to bits, i have tried everything to sort it so i have to make do with what i have as i refuse to pay Renault £140 for a new piece of plastic!! Anyway i got out the AF Metal Polish, fine metal wool and some other bits, popped it out and went to work.. Cleaned the inside to the best i could.. Looking somewhat better.. Hovered, and cleaned the interior with AF Verso again.. Cleaned the boot, hovered etc.. Then it was lunch time!!!
After lunch i moved on to the coat, quick polish and glaze.. Sealed and waxed the wheels Coated all the black trim.. After that, i sealed and waxed her paint but it was so late and i wash shattered i forgot to take a few snaps, here she is at SCitP anyway.. Great day!!
Car looks amazing , been very busy. Car show looked good, any other pics? I forgot i had a little brush like that, will be cleaning around them hinges in the boot Fri when im off
Big Update! The big one, I've been waiting for all these goodies to arrive for just under a month now, but they finally turned up at the back end of last week, just in time for her booking at the garage on Saturday. Cobra 3" Decat & Spax SSX 25mm Front & Rear Cobra 3" Straight through Non-Res She's in.. not as clean as i would like but i didn't see the point cleaning her till after everything was done in the garage! Once the springs have settled, i'm giving her a a clean Thursday/Friday this week so ill get some proper pictures up for you guys. By the way, she sounds amazing! Turbo feels like it spools a little quicker, and the lower centre of gravity and the wider wheel have made her feel awesome round the corners. Next month ill be upgrading the torque link.. more to come
Reviews and recommendations really. I was going to go cooksport but I heard a few have snapped so I went with something I knew
Yeah i was looking at all 4 brands for weeks. I bought all 3 parts from Demon Tweeks, and Spax were all they had and they gave me a decent price on the job lot they sit perfect, no issues installing them and they feel sound on the road to.
Jesus its like a mirror. I like you attention to detail and love the car, sadly I don't think the wheels suit it
Did you check they are for rhd cars I bought some and they are mot failures had to change back to oem which I took apart and painted myself. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Haha appreciate it! Stripped her of everything at the weekend to get a summer coat on tomorrow. Oh, i didnt think the grey on grey would suit it but i saw Matts OG and fell for them..
Hope you're all having an amazing wet Wednesday Its taken me a while to get some pictures up since i had the springs etc done... but here's some pictures after i did her clean yesterday Stance and gap between the arch looks a lot better and feels better in the corners.. happy with the result
