R26 f1 team new discs and pads

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Ricky G, May 24, 2017.

  1. Hi guys I am looking to replace front discs and pads on my car. Looking for fast road use with some trackday use.

What are people using and where the best place to get them?

    Cheers

    Ricky

Don't think you will go to far wrong with Brembo HC disc's and PF z rated pads, i am liking mine Thanks Martin :sunglasses:

    I can supply various options @Ricky G

Have Brembo HC discs, and a few pad options on the shelf Mintex M1144 and Ferodo Racing DS2500 to name a couple , with braided lines, a few brakes fluids, pin kits, etc etc , get in touch if want any help/info mate

Are HC's actually just non drilled genuines? I'd prefer drilled as I've just put new drilled on the back and would prefer them to match but it's hard to justify the extra!

  5. For fast road, and if you have deeper pockets, carbotech xp8`s,are a great fast road and track pad.
Great to deal with..pricey..but you get what you pay for..tireless braking performance from cold, with no fade.

Just put on my 3rd set in 10 years, with brembo blanks, and rbf600 fluid...will put you through the windscreen, right at the top of the peddle.

i bought my disks and rear ds2500 from george, who commented above.
The ds2500 have at last sorted out my rear braking.
Every other pad i have used in the rear groan after repeated hard braking..not this time though.

  6. well , my other hobby is cycling and I know from that that you are better buying once rather than buying cheap.
I would prefer to have either grooved or cross drill discs.
Have used ebc on other cars before and they have been pretty poor.

drilled disks crack between the holes..it always happens.
grooved disks will reduce the life of your expensive pads for little gain...
renault dont put grooved disks on the 275 anymore..must be a reason.

brembo blanks will cost you half the money, while delivering maximum life and performance.

The plain/ grooved thing on the 275 is nothing to do with performance, it's purely a cost saving thing.

Plain are the way forward if your not spending big bucks on proper discs. A lot of the track spec euro Meganes run plains and I actually have some to go on mine now instead of grooved.

  9. I am looking for the best discs, don't mind spending the extra money just want the best breaking possible.
The car won't be used to do high mileage as I brought it as a fun car and track day car.
I have a mercedes c350e sport for day to day stuff

  10. Plain HC discs are better than drilled. Plus for an R26 you can get plain Megane 175 Dci rear discs.

  11. ok well may just go with the plain hc discs for now. Is the 330mm kit from Ktec any good?

  12. Do you need 330 mm?

  13. not sure maybe eventually, plan eventually is to build engine to 300+bhp so presume would need the bigger brakes.

  14. I would wait then until you eventually need them, if at all.

I bought a set of plain disc's from Brembo, they keep the plain ones on the shelf but the groove ones are now only to order, they said that there isn't the call for the grooved ones anymore as they kill pads when used hard

  16. just fitted my ds2500 rears, and carbotech xp8`s with brembo blanks today.
been out and about doing my bedding in,which is critical to put the xp8`s through the heat cycles.

It is genuinely shocking how powerful the brakes are with the right combination of components.
You have to be careful when xp8`s are new,as the initial bite is so strong it takes you by surprise.
Just goes to show how pads go off after the months.

The pads were not even that bad..down to about 4-5mm,but the difference in stopping power is incredible.

  17. Just ordered brembo blanks and s2500's from George

    HC is just marketing.

  23. Brembo HC discs are a notch up in durability over their standard lower carbon content discs.

  24. well just need to get them fitted now. Have order a full set of shocks and grams (not sure if they are any good) springs from Kam racing. Did not want to spend over a grand right now on decent coilovers.
Get them all fitted then look at where to start next. I need to get a quick shift sorted.

No problem Ricky, happy to help. Thanks again

PS I can supply quite a lot of parts not on my site yet, including Renault OE dampers and H+R springs if that's what you're thinking of fitting

Send me a PM if want any info mate, cheers

  26. So two discs with the same dimensions exist one with a higher carbon content than the other?

Think this is an important point if so as prices can't be compared.

    Does Renault/OE sell HC?

  27. 2 bottles for full flush..i just got rbf600
