R26 Megane 2 headlights - non xenon - is it broken?

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Danith, May 31, 2017.

  1. Recently bought these grey insert headlights and one of them is loose inside so the red circled sidelight 'cup' area moves about 5mm or so back and further. The bottom screw inside the red circled area has somehow snapped.
I can bodge it to secure but does it need to move to adjust? Or is it just the top adjuster that moves?
If the bottom mount doesn't need to move in and out then it should still work as long as the adjuster motor at the top is still working but I cant get any specific answer to this question, only generic 'yeah its broke' - which I kinda know! But what I'm now asking is, can it be bodged or will that be pointless.
Grey insert lights are hard to get hold of! Ta

  2. I think the one you are having trouble with isnt important to move. There are other two that are for horizontal (side to side) and for vertical (up /down motorised adjustment)

  3. Thank you very much. I thought it would be ok but I cant get into the unit to work it out!
Cheers. So if i can secure this with something to stop the inner case moving whilst on the car it should be ok and still be able to adjust so it will pass the MOT?
Thanks, I cant work out HOW the motor adjusts the light!

  4. Don't suppose anyone has an exploded diagram of these headlamp units do they?

  5. Tried fitting it and its scrap.

Lamp unit is secure but it's just spinning on the motor as the bottom mount must be some sort of pivot.
