I got a turbo back miltek just wanting to know if fitting a pipe with a cat on it would be enough to pass emissions?

  2. When I spoke to RS Tuning about buying one they said it would depend on the MOT tester.

They didn't give a definite yes or no, so I ended up getting a decat instead.

  3. Hmm.. I got a decat already.. But the mot tester failed it and basically said if i get one fittted it would pass and then i could remove it ... Jist wondering if a decat can be fitted on the center pipe.. I read somewhere it needs to be as close to the engine as possible as it needs heat

  4. From memory the mot test changed a while ago and the cat needs to be in the oem place. All depends on how anal/ how well they know the car though I guess.

  5. This is correct; although how would a mot tester know where each cat is on each car? I would of thought a non stealer doing an mot wouldn't be to fussed about the location. Just my 2p

Ive just had my mot done and I asked exactly that question. The answer is you can have a cat fitted anywhere and it will pass mot. It doesn't have to be in oe position.

  7. Just been speaking to my mate who does the work on my car and he confirmed that the cat can be fitted inline... So gonna be ordering myself a midpipe from miltek and thay magnaflow cat so i cam swap the pipes round come mot time!

  8. IV just refitted my cat for when the mot is due. It will be staying on. Too much effort for 10bhp or so that decating offers.

Try another garage, mine has passed the last 3 without a cat in it and it needs an MOT next week.

  10. My car passed with a sport cat in downpipe of miltek. Tester may need to warm engine abit to get enough heat in it though. Officially it should be in the oem position

  11. I ordered the bits for the mid pipe.. My mate done it for his brothers clio turbo and passes no probs.. I might even exhaust wrap it to keep in a bit of heat on the cat

    Officially no it shouldn't.

  13. Fyi fitted the cat'ed midpipe and passed no probs!

For anyone wanting an alternative to a sports cat (that cost 400+) the above bits seem to work!
