275 DAB Upgrade

  1. Morning all, just wondering if anyone has had the genuine DAB kit installed at a Renault dealership recently?
I booked my 275 Trophy in a couple weeks ago to get it done this Friday and had a phone call to say they were cancelling because they can't get the parts and Renault have no more kits left, they didn't even offer a workaround.
Is anyone able to shed some light on this please.

  2. I don't understand what you need clarifying here, to be honest. It seems straight forward - Renault no longer offer this service due to lack of parts.

I don't think it was the best solution anyway, in terms of price and usability. I looked at it when I first got the Trophy and decided it wasn't worth it. I'm sure you could go to an aftermarket audio installer and they could fit you a better solution.

There's always the ability to blue-tooth digital radio from your phone, which I do on occasion. I know this uses data but instead of paying the fee for a DAB upgrade you could upgrade your data plan maybe. Just a thought.

  3. Using phone is not an option, I live in Cornwall and don't get signal most the time.

I just wondered if anyone has had it done lately or if anyone had tried to get it done and been told the same as I was.

I think it's pretty poor that Renault are not doing it as my car is only 3 years old and still under the 4 plus warranty so any aftermarket solution installed will void that.

  4. Are you even sure you'll get a DAB signal then? Where I am the digital signal drops out in the same places the 2G/3G mobile signal does.

  5. Yeah we get the DAB signal, don't get any 3G where I live, completely reliant on wifi for data. Mates got a Clio RS with it and my wife's 208 doesn't lose signal either, I just want it for 6 music on the occasion I have to use it to commute and on the A Roads, we don't get many fm channels down here.

  6. 6 Music is all I bother listening to, too, via blue-tooth as I say.

Could you not download the shows you're interested in at home over wifi, via the BBC iplayer app and bluetooth them that way? A bit of a faff, admittedly.

    Hi Adrain
I have just purchased a "Pure 600" unit for the Megane, was very disappointed with it until a mate said plug it in to the hard wire plug and turn off the FM modulator, it almost blew the doors off when i plugged it in, from the little use its had at the moment works really well
