I know how the keyless works, I've already read up on it, however....! Has anyone ever had the doors not locking even though the car 'locks' when you've walked away. It's only about the third time in three week but this morning again I noticed it didn't unlock as I opened the door, It was just open.
Yeah I've had this. My auto lock, when walking away, seems to be very temperamental. It'll beep and lights flash but doors won't actually lock. I always just lock it using the button now.
I guess you've tried new batteries? Mines so sensitive that if you want to walk around the car, you have to go round the back because it's impossible to get close enough to the front to prevent the system locking with the key in your pocket.
I had this issue with mine, I would walk away from the car and it would make the beep to signal it locked, only it hadn't actually locked. So then when I would go to get back in the alarm would go off. Tried various different fixes, in the end it came down to a faulty door lock solenoid. I paid ~£50 for one from a breakers and fitted it myself. No issues since! Right bastard to fit though. Also, it got progressively worse over about 2 months until it did it every time.
It did it again last night, I tried a different approach, locked it with the button on the door handle, test and all unlocked keylessly, so locked again via said button. 30 minutes later came down stairs and just happen to pull the passager handle.... unlocked. I'll just lock it with the damn key [emoji23]
Still having this issue, resorted to only locking via the keycard and still finding it unlocked. It's in Renault Manchester now, they can't find anything wrong, I should have expected that [emoji53]
Just been to pick it up, had a chat with the bloke and he said the odd thing is that if it unlock itself over night it should lock itself within 30 seconds, it's odd that it isn't, I agreed and I thought i'd seen it lock itself like that... apparently not. Just tested and it does not auto lock if non of the doors or boot lid are opened, back to Renault it goes.
That sounds like it thinks one of the doors is open then, at least possibly intermittently, when it's obviously not. Does the dash display work correctly when you repeatedly open and close the door from inside - the one that shows if a door is ajar? My old R26 wouldn't let the engine start because it thought the boot lid was open sometimes when it wasn't - could be same sort of thing. Another thought - have you tried dead-locking it to see if that makes a difference, because then it shouldn't unlock even it the car thinks somebody is opening a door from the inside. Worth a shot.
I'd thought that just when locking it up now, I watched the dash as I opened and closed both the doors and boot, all clear again when the doors are shut. Re. deadlocking, thats exactly how i've locked it every time I leave it for the past month, locked via the keycard so keyless entry is disabled and it's still unlocking itself, both Monday morning and this morning it's unlocked itself overnight. I've tested it tonight, I unlock it with the key and don't open any doors it doesn't auto lock either.
Just to be clear - deadlocking by double pressing the keyfob or handle switch so that the indicators flash 5 times?
Yep thats the one, i've done it via the button on the door and the keycard, it deadlocks (2x normal speed flashes followed by 3x fast ones), I know it's locked as I check it, yet I randomly return to it unlocked.
Just been to check, deadlocked at 20:50 and it's open at 22:20, tried the boot first, everything is opening. Odd!
Indeed. Have you tried locking the doors when you are inside and driving, to see if they open on their own? Might help to narrow things down.
No not tried anything while driving, I have auto lock turned on and that appears to work.... I think! One for me to test, I noticed it lock the other day when I set off and it surprised me so maybe that ain't working either
I'd try ruling out different components. a) make sure you have no spare key in the car (my other half managed that with her keyless car) b) leave car, immediately after locking make sure to take batteries of all keys (to check if they mis operate) c) if car remains closed it's likely a broken key, if not some electrical issue with the car (hope for you it's not the latter...)
I've tried both keys over the time I've owned it, didn't make a difference. It's 100% the car. I bought it from a Renault dealer anyway, hellooooo warranty [emoji23]
Just spoke to Renault again, its booked back in on Tuesday, they have more to go on with the self locking function not working, at least there is a visible fault. I can't be sure if RAID is working either, I know it's switched on, I'll have to test that one.
Fingers crossed this is sorted, i'll find out in the coming weeks if it does it again. I found the boot lid only unlocked last week so that narrows it down to the release switch or the locking mechanism causing the problem (i hope!). I replaced the locking mechanism today. Fingers crossed!
It's not related i don't think but if i unlock with the remote it doesn't lock again, handy if i want to leave the windows open without the alarm going off. On a side note does anyone know how to turn off internal sensors so i can lock it with the window open a little
It should re-lock if you don't open any doors, well.... every Renault i've had so far has done. Maybe this ones different.
